Work, Home by
bmxjumperc
When installing windows I used to get to make a choice of weather this
computer was in a work setting or a home setting and I think there was a
third option but when installing now I don't have to make those choices any
more, why is that? (I erased my hard drive and started from scratch a few
times)

Bitlocker Set-up Problem by
Steve
When using the Bitlocker Drive Preparation tool on an existing Vista Ultimate
installation, I'm unable to get the system to start from the new partition.
The tool seems to do it's stuff, but when restarting, all I get is a "Missing
Operating System" error message when the laptop trys to start. I boot with
the Vista DVD and then attempt a repair, but the only way to get back into
Vista is to...

Installing on a SATA drive by
AnnFenniman
I am trying to do a clean install of Vista Ultimate on a new Seagate 320GB
drive. I have an Intel D875PBZ MB with a 8280ER ICH5R SATA controller. The
upgrade advisor says that this config is okay and the installation can see
the drive and even deleted a partition and formated the drive. I have tried
it with both the SATA RAID enabled and disabled thru the BIOS. I have the
latest BIOS (P34)...

Help clean up a multiple instance of Vista on two HDD by
e-raser
I had a temp *_HDD_* problem which made me install *_my_* copy of Vista
onto a temp *_hdd_*.
once this issue was solved i installed my OS onto my proper *_HDD_*.
However i discovered that i had forgot to reorder my Boot disk priority
in my BIOS and when the new OS was installed the old OS on the temp
*_HDD_* was still the primary *_HDD_*.
The result is as follows,

Patch Explorer.exe bug / Black Screen of death by
Mooman
After installing:
Realtek network adapters
and a Telstra Next G wireless card
Windows updates
Explorer.exe became bugged, as in after logging into Vista-HP OS on a HP
laptop (top of line). Once the password has been inputed and you click the
arrow.. you are presented with a blank screen and only a cursor.
To work around this you press ctrl+alt+del and you terminate explorer.exe

John Harris
I am trying to figure out why my system is doing this and have been
unsuccessful so far, so I thought I would try here.
I am running a Dell XPS 400 box; P4 3.0 Ghz with 3 MB Ram. OS was upgraded
to Vista Home Premium and also upgraded Video Card to ATI Radeon X1950 Pro
256 MB. The system should handle anything I throw at it, but since the
upgrade it "pegs" at 100% at random times. I have...

Dumped Vista, Can't install XP Pro by

I installed Vista Business on my comp that has a Lanparty nf4MB, Athlon 64

with my new analog/digital TV tuner card so i want to switch back to XP Pro.
I decided to "wipe the HD" clean with Dban and load XP Pro using the
installation CD. The installation process began OK.
I carefully followed the instructions from...
