Booting of Vista SP1 64-bit and xml answer files by
Mazzaroc
HI
During the boot of the DVD of Vista SP1 64-bit, I can run one of the
xml answer files, which are in a directory of this DVD, so I can start
a custom installation of this OS? If so, how do I do this?
THANKS

Messengers cannot log in by
RamRodd
Hi, I'm using Windows Vista Home x64bit and for some reason my instant
messengers will not log in at all.
This all started the other day, when i turned on my computer, i tried
to log into Digsby and it just launched in Local Mode, which means it
was not able to connect to the server.
Thinking this was a Digsby problem I downloaded and installed Trillian,
same problem: won't connect at all.

HID Non-User Input Data Filter by
LarryC
Ever since installing HID Non-User Input Data Filter "Optional Update" It has
been conflicting with my ATI Catalyst Drivers for the x1950xtx dual videos
and have been randomly getting the "ole" blue screen during boot of Vista
x64. Of course when I do manage to boot Vista it points to the updated ATI
drivers as the offending cause and has been driving me nuts until I had to
reinstall Vista...

Windows Vista (32) Unable to update by
hilkka
Hi!
My Windows Vista is not able to update automatically or manually. The task bar displays the message Windows is unable to update. Manually pressing the Windows Updates results only in a quick flash of the Update screen; no action.
A posting in this Forum suggested deleting the Windows Update key by going to regeditHMKEY Load MachineSoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftWindowsWindows Update

Deleted important files and can't do clean re-install by
ms.princess
My son released "w32 virut.ai generic" virus onto my pc.
I used a scanner to remove the virus from the files and folders. It
cleaned about 200 but AVG keeps picking up infected files telling me to
reboot every 10 seconds to delete it.
Now I've deleted some important folders and buggered the C partition.
It cannot find system restore
Can't access specified path for cd drive (so can't do clean...

Installing Apache by
Gotejjeken
I recently downloaded Apache 2.2 and was able to get it installed and
running. The problem is, to get Apache to install I had to disable IIS
as it was taking up port 80. Now, when I browse to http://localhost, I
get a 'not found' error, presumably because IIS is turned off. The only
way I can see the 'it works!' test message from Apache is by browsing to
http://127.0.0.1.
Is there some way to...

move installation? by
Paul Riemerman[_2_]
My computer just died, with a complex Vista installation on a 250 GB drive.
I have a replacement unit on its way, but is there any way to transfer the
drive with the Vista install to the new computer and get a working system?
My Vista is a full retail copy. I'm now working on XP from my backup
machine, an old Dell Optiplex GX200, with a 733 MHZ P3 that's not capable of
running Vista. I could...

Temporary Profile by
Rod
Hi
I run a Vista Home Premium PC. It is up to date as far as patches/updates go.
It ran like a dream until a few days ago, when for some reason, on logging
in (Using my only User account - Rod - and my usual Password) it
"successfully" logged me onto my PC using a Tempoary Profile only. It runs
through the whole "Preparing your Desktop" routine.
Now, I have done some research and all I can...

Vista SP2 Offer from Windows Update by
Paul Calcagno
I've just been offered Windows SP2 via my Windows Update manager. My history
on this computer is excellent with regards to updates so I'm inclined to
have this update installed. Everything regarding updates is current except
for IE-8.
My one reservation is that I've declined to update IE-8 in the recent past
as I'm a Firefox user and I've seen all the traffic about how cloggy IE has
been...

Way to verify product key PRIOR to installation? by
slinky317
So I was recently given an OEM copy of Vista Ultimate along with its
product key. I was assured that the computer was never activated or
setup, but obviously I am wary about it. I currently have XP installed
but would like to go to Vista Ultimate if possible... is there a way to
check to see if a product key is valid or in use PRIOR to reformatting
my computer and losing my data? Any help...
