ATI Radeon X1600 Pro 512 MB AGP Installation by
jplappo
When I installed the RTM of Vista, I had a Radeon card in my system. I was
never able to successfully install with this card installed. Constant BSOD
right before the final boot. I went and bought another cheaper card so I
could use Vista.
I waited the month, and attempted to reinstall the Readeon. It still can not
be used in Vista, and with the amount of people who have written about...

X850 PR0 AGP - does not seem compatable with Vista by
boe
Hello,
I have an MSI motherboard 965p - I have the latest firmware 2.5. I can run
XP Pro with no issue but installing Media Center 2005 and Vista has been a
bust. I'll begin the install and very shortly before it get's into the
real install, the monitor goes black. I've tried several times with each -
no luck. I thought it might be a DVI issue so I connected a CRT to the VGA...

Reverting back to XP? by
Rock
"Peabody" wrote
I bought a new laptop in December with XP Home, and have registered
for the express upgrade to Vista Home Basic.
I plan to make a full image backup of my hard drive before actually
doing the upgrade. If, after trying Vista, I decide I don't like
it, and restore the XP image, will I have XP authentication
problems, or will it work as...

Clean re-install from with Vista Ultimate? by
neverforget
Various things went wrong---all attributable to me--- with my upgrade from XP
Professional to Vista Ultimate, leading to a system instability and 45+% use
of 2 GB of RAM, slow loading of IE7, and Windows LiveOneCare Firewall
supposedly not turning on (but probes of my ports show them all to be
"stealthed").
So, what I would like to do is stick the Vista DVD in while in Vista, format
my HD,...

Why I reject Vista for now.... by
Pete
"Moving to Vista means hunting for updated drivers for your printer, audio
card and so on, not to mention troubleshooting incompatible programs,"
Generally, updated drivers don't exist.

Programs Lost Settings at Reboot by
[email protected]
Is there anyway to get certain programs from not losing the settings I
configured when my computer reboots? Programs like Winamp lose all
settings. There are a few others as well. I can't run the program as
administrator as the box is grayed out. I am kind of lost and was
hoping there was a fix for this. Any ideas would be appreciated.

cofimerlin
I have upgraded from XP to VHP (using the upgrade DVD), and the product key
has been activated. Is it possible to 'go back' and do a clean install in
this situation? If so ,how do i go about doing this without having to
purchase another key?

I tried a dual boot of xp pro sp2 and vista ultimate. xp on c: drive then I
made another partion with acronis disk director named v: drive and put vista

Reinstalling Vista from a Vista Upgrade by
redeye
Hi All,
I have noticed that with with Vista, you have the option to pay for an
upgrade from say home to business. The question is, if the o/s needed to be
rebuild, how would upgraded back to say business if you purchsed the upgrade
when you have the home disk. The same question would go for the preinstalled
Office 2007 which allows you to purchase the product online, how would it be...

Please help with installing MS certificate on Vista 32 bit. by
boe
Hello,
I have an exchange 2003 server SP2 running on Windows Server 2003.
Normally to receive e-mail using RPC over HTTPs, we would download the
certificate by going to www. widgets.com\certsrv and download the DER
certificate and then you configure your profile. I am setting up a 2007
client on Vista 32 bit. I'm already using Office 2007 on XP without issue.
However when I try to check...

Restoring file types and associations by
Barney Katz
The Vista installation program hijacked many file type and protocol
associations and replaced them with Microsoft programs. I've managed to
change most of them back to the programs I prefer by using Control Panel
Default Programs Associate a File Type or Protocol with a Program but a
few remain because I can't determine how to make the switch. For example,
the default choice for...

Network access by

Hi, I installed Business N on a Dell GX 270 that I put on our domain. I have
the properties of TCP/IP configured to use DHCP to acquire an IP address.
When ever I restart the computer I have to open the properties of the NIC and
"Diagnose and Repair" the connection to force it to get an IP address. Is
the the default behavior of Vista? If not what have I done wrong?

Vista RTM, Virtual Server, Sysprep... is there an easier way? by
Shepp
Hello,
I manage an R&D lab and we are moving into supporting Vista. The way
our Virtual Lab is setup I have done the following:
Each OS we support (incl. languages) I have built out (over time) one
base VHD image and used sysprep to seal the VM and of course for it to
generate a new SID upon bootup. I have users go through the
mini-setup, and use an answer file to populate things like the...
