I have Vista Ultimate RC1 - installing it on a brand new Pc with a Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 with 2 gb of G.Skill DDR2 800 mhz memory a SATA 250 bg hdd, and it gets to the part where it's "expanding files" but sits... and sits... I know that Vista does not load NTLDR, instead it loads BOOTMGR. But when Vista first tries to load BOOTMGR and if it cannot be found then it will try to load NTLDR. How is this possible? Regards Ronald

Recently installed Vista on a new computer; I threw in an older Raptor drive in it initially while waiting for new drive-everything was running properly. I have been able to successfully install the beta 3 version on RC2 on a gateway laptop and it works completely as far as I can tell. I'm using the same Vista and Windows MDC on a Dell GX280 and it doesn't work. Anyone have any idea on what's Wrong? I am currently using Vista RC1. From the "safe mode" I can only access the current Vista product (RC1). I cannot even do a clean install. Do I need to reinstall XP to access Vista files for installation?

I downloaded the RC1 ISO image, but it will not boot and not recognized by my system. I burned 4 different DVD to eliminate the prospect of a bad DVD. The following is related to the Toshiba Portege M400. I am having issues loading the Toshiba KRAID driver for a WinPE CD. All attempts so far have been unsuccessful but if I mount the image I can see the RAID driver as OEM0.inf in \windows\inf and the sys files have been succesfully loaded in \windows\system32\Drivers. I have read a lot of posts about vista stalling or hanging for periods of time. I have done close to 25 clean installs and upgrades from xp and beta 2 to rci. Give it time, It takes a long time. Be patent especially with the black screen.
