unzipping the downloaded files by
Theo
Richard Urban, this is how people try to "create" a bootable CD or DVD.
No, it does not need extracting. It is a full iso image. To burn with
Nero, use StartSmart, Copy and Backup tab, then select Burn DVD Image. Or
by using the full Nero Burning ROM, close any wizards, then on the Recorder
tab, select Burn Image. Nero will write the image direct to DVD. Burn at
the lowest speed possible,...

I am trying to install Vista RC1 Build 5600 on a Dell Optiplex GX-280 with

formatted.
Install gets about 98% complete in uncompressing files then I get an error
that says "Windows cannot install required files. Make sure all files
required for installation are available and restart installation - Error Code...

What is the installation product key of windows Vista?
That is : "The sequense of letters and numbers you need to enter
when installing Windows Vista, if you want to activate it and
use it more than 14 days." :-)
You can, however, enter those after the installation,

Mouse and Keyboard not responding by
crandall31
I just upgraded MCE 2005 on my Alienware m5500 laptop to RC1 32bit. It now
boots and sits at the language selection screen, it has 'windows vista
ultimate' across it above the 3 boxes for selecting things. The keyboard
and mouse(touchpad) integrated into the laptop do not respond, neither does a
logitech mouse plugged into usb. Have tried repairing startup but it finds
no problems and...

Dual Booting 32 Bit Xp and 64 Bit Vista by
stu
My present configuration is dual boot XP and RC1 32 bit versions. (Both on
different physical hard drives).
I would like to run the 32 Bit XP installation in conjunction with a 64 bit
Vista install. the general advice at the time of the beta version was not to
boot from the Vista DVD but to install from within XP to preserve XP
capability.
Does this still hold true for RC1 or can I safely...

Dual Boot 32 bit Xp and Vista 64 bit Question by
stu
Hi,
I am dual-booting XP and RC1 32 bit versions. I installed Vista from within
XP rather than booting the DVD and put it on to a separate hard drive. All
works fine.
The advice when i got the beta was that this was the way to do it to make
sure you preserved your XP installation.
My system though has a Athlon 64 x 2 processor and ideally I would like to

INTEL DRIVERS by
Dell 2407fwp
I have an INTEL motherboard d975xbx and apparently my hd are not recognized
or accessed when downloading RC1. The download must be going onto the RAM
(4gb).
Spoke to Intel, they stated that the drivers supporting Vista will not be
available until Vista is formally released. Until then, I can only use XP.
Drag. Guess I'll have to wait.

Dual Boot Help by
Ridesy
I have now downloaded the RC1 version of Vista, but am nervous of recurring
dual boot issues if I install on my home PC, as I did exactly this with the
Beta 2 release and although Vista worked fine I could not boot into "older
Windows" which was my XP Pro 32, I just got a black screen and nothing no
boot at all.
In the end last time I had to wipe the Vista Partition and then rebuild Xp...

Setup cannot determine if this computer supports this version of W by
DannyBoy
I understand from a previous post that the answer to this problem is to
switch on all services. Is that still the standard solution or is there a
specific service to turn on?
My setup: P4 3Ghz, 1GB RAM, WinXP Pro SR2, Bootmagic 8. I've got a clean
partition FAT32 size 32 GB. Plan to dual boot using Bootmagic unless that is
getting in the way. (It is afterall a Norton product). I've...

Major bios problems by
Kyle W
Hi. I was going to create a multiboot system but acciedentally installed
vista first. I shrank the partition and installed windows xp on the unused
space. After I went through the long and painful process of deleting the
partition. Now my system will not boot. It will do 1 of 3 things:
1. Will freeze at boot on first screen where you hit a button to enter
bios setup.
2. Will go to...
