Id like to know if i can install RC1 without writing it onto a dvd (i dont have a dvd writer). eg. If i'd exctract it onto Drive C and want to install it onto Drive D. Would it work? And when can i get a serial number, or does it work without it?

the dvd boots, loads the files and then goes into a screen with a funky desktop background and a mouse cursor (which i can move) but however long i leave it nothing else will happen do you have to use this dvd to update the beta 2 install, can you not do a fresh installation ? any help appreciated.
