help with pc video formats and dvd by
KRK
Hello,
Can anyone point me to a site or document that explains in layman's language
what the various pc video formats, eg mpg, avi, mov are, and how they relate
to a dvd format ?
If I use Windows Moviemaker I can collect several vids together and publish
them as a single vid, but if I publish to my pc should I use 'recommended
format for my pc' or 'DV-PAL' (which gives a 10 or 100...

Windows Media player by
Moira G
My WMP will not play video clips either downloaded or homemade. It plays
music ok. I am wondering if there is a conflict with my Nero software or
QuickTime Player? Web help tells me it is error message C00D11B1 and the
sound device driver may need updating but everything appears to be up to date.

jugularity
-"I’m having a problem with thumbnails not showing up... The thumbnails
are just thin stripes as oppose to actual, you know, thumbnail

That's the only reference I have managed to dig up so far in the wide
world of the Web (from 'this page'
The reply from the technical expert read, in part:...

I've tried to get both versions of WMP (32- and 64-bit) to import .wavs.
They play OK but you can't seem to actually import them into the
library.

No Sound with DVD playback by
Leonard
I have several DVD's that all play fine with Windows Vista. When I play them
on my Vista Machine some play perfectly, but with others the video plays
perfectly but there is absolutely no sound. Even with the volume set to max
in Windows , Windows Media Player, or Windows Media Center.
Does anyone have a solution?

Truncating Photos by
code20photog
My computer is truncating photos, and it doesn't matter which camera or
which memory cards they come from. What happens is when I am trying to
move them over to my external hard drive, it says "cannot copy file from
source" and when I try to open them with photo gallery or photoshop,
they come out half picture, half white or grey, or slices of photo
repeated. It's also screwing up videos from my...

Media player 11 will not play streaming video by
rickster
I recently purchased a new Toshiba Satellite with Vista Home Premium
pre-installed. The problem is that Media Player refuses to play streaming
video. It simply pops open a new window with the message "page cannot be
found". With Windows XP and other versions, Media Player 10 & 11 would open
Media Player and play the file. Now, with Vista, it will not.
Any ideas?

I am having problems with Windows Media Center not playing live video after
installation of Vista SP1.
The tuner card and video were working great right up until the install of
the Service Pack, and started failing immediately after the installation.
All functions of the WMC seem to work OK, with the exception of anything
dealing with the tuner card.
Configuration is as follows:
