Windows Media Player Visualizations by Druidika
Vista's version of Media Player 11 is still using the same visualizations that were introduced ages ago in Windows Media Player 9. Winamp's AVS had better visualization presets seven years ago. Is there any chance of an introduction of WMP visualizations that make use of Vista's new graphics capabilities?

Display Settings change by wosully
Hi all, I have noticed that my default display settings on Vista are changing to 800 x 600 upon logoff. They appear only with my domain account and I am using roaming profiles: all other users have no issues with their settings. Upon logon, I have the 1280 x 800, but in about 20 seconds, my display revents to 800 x 600. I can then set it back to the 1280 x 800, and my display remains at...

Not sure how much of this is true, but I believe most of it is, and even if only 1/4 is true, it's enough to make me think twice or even thrice about going anywhere near Vista for a long time yet... http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut001/pubs/vista_cost.txt Executive Summary ----------------- Windows Vista includes an extensive reworking of core OS elements in order

WMP11 and dvr-ms files by Bill Pomeroy
Thanks, Gary, I was having the same problem. Only audio, no video. With the date reset, all is OK again. BillP "Gary Mount" wrote in message ... If you change the date of your computer to Jan 3, 2007, then it will work. The codec's have expired. The error message you get appears to be erroneous.

Vista Movie Maker by Rob M
Have installed the Vista Ultimate RTM. I see that Movie Maker should be able to import dvr-ms files (the format produced by Media Center for recorded tv). Whenever I try, the import succeeds (I can play the file in the preview window) however any actions such as dragging the thumbnail to the timeline cause Movie Maker to close down. Am running Vista on a brand new Dell laptop, Core Duo with...

Picture Gallery & Media Center by Bonnie.
I'm anxious to upgrade to Vista so I can use the functionality of Picture Gallery. Currently I am using Digital Image 2006 to tag & organize my photos. Currently, all my photos are stored in a single file folder, then I assign location, event, people, *-rating, keywords to the photos. Using this method it makes it very easy to filter & view photos. I recently purchased a Windows Media...

Capturing PAL DV by James Young
Hi, I'm attempting to capture from a PAL DV camera using Movie Maker, in the preview I see my video but it is completly pixelated like a mosaic. I've tried some other freeware capture software packages but they produce similar results, however they all report that the input souce is NTSC, and I'm unable to overide this. Has anyone else managed to capture PAL DV?

Media Center Backup by Geoffry5599
Hi, I'm using RC 1 and want to know how to save my MCE settings so I don't need to reselect what channels the guide should hide, etc. during a backup and restore and when I switch to the retail version. Is there a way to do this?

Tuner Not Installed Message by Sandro
I love the new feature in Vista where things mysteriously stop working. Vista's Media Center stopped recognizing my WinTV PVR-150 tuner. Last night it was working great. This morning it stopped working completely. I have the latest drivers installed. Even uninstalled all WinTV drivers and reinstalled the Vista drivers. No go. Then I thought it might be the hardware even though Device...

WMC Decoder Error - can no longer play videos/DVDs by Technology Guy
I'm running RC2-5744. Yesterday morning, I was able to play DVDs. As of yesterday afternoon, no videos (including the default ones - like 'Apollo 13') will play under Windows Media Center. They all give the message: Decoder Error. Is this a feature under RC2 that has 'expired'? If so, is there some indication of that in any of the system logs? Are there any other features that are just...
