WTH "Warning - Multiple default gateways..." by
bobbb.bbbbb@gmail.com
"Warning - Multiple default gateways are intended to provide
redundancy to a single network (such as an intranet or the Internet)."
I have no idea if this is a fault or normal for my setup (32bit Vista
Ultimate/Q6600/nVidia 680i w/ dual NVIDIA nForce 10/100/1000 Mbps
Ethernet). This warning pops up whenever I set a static IP for either
of the two.
I have no problem accessing the Internet and...

Connecting Laptop using XP to Desktop using Vista 64 Premium by
lnfinity
Is it possible using the same type of cable that I'd use to hook a router
with a computer, (yellow cable) to directly connect my laptop to my desktop
without having an adverse effect on my wireless network which has 3 systems
total on it?
Been trying to no avail, as I'm fairly new at the concept of networking..lol

XP - Vista File Sharing by
T. Jenkins
I know there have been many posts on this issue, and I've tried the
troubleshooting tips on many of these, to no avail, so I'm going to explain
my specific situation in the hopes that someone can figure this out.
A few months ago, I purchased a Vista laptop. Up to that point, I'd been
using multiple XP computers on my home wireless and wired network, and have
been able to share files and...

accessing an XP Home computer by
Angus[_2_]
I have an XP Home PC on my LAN with a administrator level user and password.
On my Vista home PC I run this command at the command prompt:
net use G: \\xplaptop\c$ /user:xplaptop\theusername
Then press enter and prompted for password. I enter password for that user
and I get System error 86 has occurred. The specified network password is
not correct.

Broadband connection problems by
zipdogso
I decided to get Vista home premium 64 bit...now I think I am regretting
it.
In XP there is an option to setup a connection to an "always on"
broadband connection i.e. no username/password required.
Much to my chagrin I have found my Vista only has PPPoe broadband
connection rendering my new PC pretty much pointless.
Since "help" also only mentions PPoe it looks like I have had it

Share a single nested file over vista network by
pafos
I have a single parent folder on the root of my hard drive. Contained in this
parent folder are ,let us say ,10 folders with files in each.
My question is---how do i set up network sharing so that only one of the
nested folders can be accessed from the network by anyone. I do not want to
move anything to the public folder.
Might sound a bit daft but is there a way.

setup vpn connection, even though we tell the wizard to "use my
internet connection" (LAN via CAT 5 and Wireless) it for some reason
keeps trying to setup to go out thru a dialup connection, even though
one doesn't exist.
Anyone experience this, and/or have a solution?

I can see this covered a number of times but I always think the out coming if
because the machine and/or switch/router hasn’t been set up right.. BUT!
I am a network engineer. I know where I’m at when it comes to configuration
BUT I find Vista impossible to work with when the machine isn’t connected to
the internet in any capacity.

Vista File Sharing failure by
Gary McCready
I just had to reinstall Vista from scratch. I tried to set up my folders to
share files so I could see them over my home network. I set up another USER
name, with password, exactly like the user on the other computer.
I right click on properties, select sharing tab, select sharing, add the
USER, and then it says "take a few minutes". After it completes I go back
and check...and NO...
