Local access only by
Gerald
One of the computers on our network is regularly experiencing this. It will
work fine on internet and then just goes to local access only. If we restart
the machine it generally comes right for a while and then goes local again
after a while. The time to fail is never consistent and can vary from hours
to days. We connect with ADSL to internet through LAN. We have other Vista
machines...

Alan W[_2_]
I have three PC's networked via a Router - two running Vista Ultimate,
and one running Windows XP.
If i have all three machines running then all have access to Internet
and all have full networking capability between machines.
If I switch the XP Machine off - then both Vista PC's have access to
the Internet - but lose all networking capability between each other.
Anyone have any ideas

slow. After initial connection everything is fine.
Details: Desktop machine has C:\ root shared out as \\Desktop\C.
Laptop accesses share via Start, \\Desktop\C, (ie. connect to
UNC path via start menu). The folder...

Vista Wireless and mac filtering by
John
I have AP's using WEP and mac filtering for security. All laptops with Windows XP connect fine. Laptops with Vista Bus. connect to the AP but don't receive an address from the DHCP server. I can give the Vista laptop a static address and I'm able to access the network. If I turn off mac filtering, I'm able to access the network. Has anyone ran across this problem?

ladyfractal
I have a 802.11n broadcasting a network at 5 Ghz. The router is a 500 Gb
Time Capsule (aka Airport Extreme). My Macbook Pro sees the network fine.
The other laptop, a Sony Vaio running Vista Home Premium does not see the
network. The installed wireless is an AGN 4965. At the suggestion of a
colleague, I disabled IPv6 which did no good. We've applied SP 1 to no
avail. The network does...

Vista to 2000, 2000 has shared folder by
Information
We are having a heck of a time getting a new Vista laptop to talk with a
shared folder on a 2000 system.
We have matched workgroup names, both have internet access, no firewalls, no
internet security software (just AVGFree), are up-to-date...our XP Home box
can see and use the 2000 share but not Vista.
Looking for any additional insight to get this connected.
Thanks in advance,

Attaching to Vista shared folder from MSDOS returns Error 5: Access has been denied by
S. Johnson
I'm attempting to attach to a shared folder on a Vista Business pc
from another computer using the MSDOS Microsoft Networking client but
when attempting to map the drive I am first told the password is
invalid for the share (it isn't) but I enter it anyway and then get
Error 5: Access has been denied.
Is it possible to attach to a Vista share using the MSDOS client?
thanks

SMA1974
Good evening,
I have a computer that I only use occasionally that has Vista on it and
every time I attempt to access the Internet I get a message that the browser
can not connect to the site.
I can go into network setup and see all of the computers and the gateway on
the network, but I can not hit a web site.
I do notice that the access level for network connection on this PC is set

Hi - Strange issues with 2 PCs running Vista Business SP1 and a 2008 Standard
