SP1 didn't fix slow network transfer? by
Untangledup
Greetings, I have three Vista machines on my home network (2 Ultimate, 1 Home
Premium - all dual core, not too old). Vista runs great on all three
machines except that when I try to copy files over my network, I see that
dreaded "Calculating Time Remaining" and nothing happens. Sometimes it may
copy one file over but that's it. Then it hangs forever. when I click
"Cancel" it still hangs and...

Vista 64 Network Share Perfromance SLOW!!! by
Skyseek
I can connect from a Windows XP to a Windows Vista x64 shared folder and
copy a 1K file in a matter of milliseconds! When I copy from Windows
Vista 32 Home Premium to the same Windows Vista x64 shared folder, it
takes 5-6 seconds. I have turned features like remote differential
compression off, etc. I am just wondering what is bottlenecking the
Vista 32 to Vista 64. This is really...

people near me: element not found by
Franz
Hi,
On my Vista Ultimate 32 bit I am not able to start Windows Meeting
Spaces. I walked through the steps described in Windows Help (Checking
services, IPv6 enabled, ...). But this didn't help.
During my investigations I noticed that this seems to be a user
specific problem. Using another User it's working.
In Control Panel People near me is also not able to start (Element not

Front page change index page? by
Amanda
Hi, I have a web page that was set up for me, and now I am using Front Page
to edit it. The one thing I am having a problem with:
When you type in my web address, the page that opens up (it's named
index.htm in the front page) has a link on it to a second page (named
residential.htm in front page) but I really want it to be the other way
around. I want the " residential" page to be the first...

Gigabit is slower than expected by
papadi
Hi!
I have two PCs with Vista Ultimate SP1. Both of them have gigabit
ethernet cards and are connected to a gigabit switch. Switch recognizes
the PCs to have gigabit cards. However when I transfer a file from one
to the other speed is less than 12MB/sec (less than 100Mbit). I would
expect it to be around 120MB/sec (1000Mbit).
Any ideas?
I searched several forums and I saw that gigabit cards...

File access and saving very slow with network folders by
Tim French
Hello,
My comment is very similar to a thread posted earlier today where network
access times are very poor. I will keep an eye on that thread too. Our
network comprises of 3 Vista machines (all SP1 - 2 x Vista Business & 1 x
Vista Home premium) and an XP machine SP2. However, the issue was present
before the XP machined was recently added back on the network. The machines
are all using...

Desktop Icons scambled using Remote Desktop by
zarbiker
Hi,
When I use Vista on one of my networked PC's to remote into another one
of my Vista PC's using Remote Desktop the desktop Icons of the remote PC are
rearranged/scrambled after the session ends. There are quite a number of
Icons arranged for easy access to frequently accessed programs, URLs, disk
locations, etc. Having them scrambled each time I connect with RDC is quite
a time...

Don't Append Primary DNS Suffix by
Victor S.
How can I configure Windows Vista to append the connection-specific DNS
suffix to DNS lookups but not the primary DNS suffix?
Here is the problem I am having. Laptops are joined to the AD domain so
their primary DNS suffix is the domain name. (I will use company.com as an
example.) Unfortunately, someone else registered our internal domain name on
the Internet and has a wildcard/catch-all...

sharing a RAID drive problem by
lwan
Hi everyone,
Since I have vista64 I have a problem that I have identified to be
related to RAID drives, I.E :
When I share a non-RAID drive on my vista64 machine, I can access it
through any other machine of my LAN (a laptop and rendering node). I can
map the drive and do whatever I want just like if the drive was actually
attached to the others computers, as expected.
BUT, as soon as the drive...

How do I get my desktop PC with Vista Home Edition Premium to "see" my

Power Savings technology with Group Policy. (Don't Sleep, Always On). How are
