02ztsfocus
I'm running Vista Ultimate x64 and I'm running a file server using
Windows Server 2003, both computers are hooked up through standard Cat5
through a D-Link DI-524.
Whenever I pull files from the server machine to the vista machine it
will transfer the files at a normal speed. Whenever I try to send files
from the Vista machine to the server machine the transfer speed is
ungodly slow. It took...

I have two computers on a wireless home network, both running Vista, named
"Desktop" and "Tablet". I want to be able to transfer and modify files
between computers with Password Protected Sharing enabled. Right now it only
works in one direction.
When attempting to open "Desktop" from the network menu on "Tablet", I get
the following error, "DESKTOP is not accessible. You might not have...

Vista sharing and subnet by
1fizgig
Hi folks. I'm wanting to share out my DVD drive (and some ISO images on my
machine) so that I can use it for iLO on our HP blade servers, however,
although I have set up sharing (based on all the posts etc I have read), I
cannot get the blades to find them through iLO. The DVD drive pops an error
saying it can't be found, and the folder I share just doesn't seem to become
available. I've...

Networking and Wireless by
1xnyer
With XP set to expire next year and XP getting harder and harder to find,
what to do with Wireless users? Specifically, if you install Vista on a
domain, set up off line files and folders for travellers, you can not login
to the OS when not connected to the LAN via hard wire. It doesn't save your
settings (cached account) therefore you can't do anything? What are you
suppose to do with...

Profiles by

I have a network with wireless user and user that travel. However, vista is
not holding the profiles. They can not log in to their domain profiles when
connecting wirelessly. I've tried to change the profile from roaming to
local but no luck. How can one accomplish setting up a local domain profile
instead of a roaming one. If I can't solve this issue Vista is no more and
we wil hve to...

Vista Wireless Laptops by
1xnyer
With XP almost gone, and Vista here, I wonder what do you do with wireless
laptop travellers. If you install vista on a laptop via wireless connection
on the domain it doesn't save your settings. It must be hard wired, and to
me this defeats the purpose of laptops and travelling. Vista doesn't cache
the account the way XP does and basically laptops using wireless connections
are useless...

Windows can't find any networks by
24Peter
Vista up to date on a laptop
Symptom: IE 7 crashes or encounters a webpage it doesn't like (certain ebay
webpages for instance). Wireless networking stops working (red X in network
connection notification icon). Thereafter the ONLY way to get Vista to see
any networks is to reboot. FPITA. Refresh wireless network list does NOT
work. If IE7 doesn't encounter a webpage it doesn't like, can stay...

Vista laptop vs XP network printer – yet again by
2cv67
(…and Yes, I have tried the ‘usual’ fix of adding as local printer – with no
success – details below.)
I have read hundreds of threads on this subject, but am still stuck & would
appreciate any advice.
I have a new Canon iP4300 printer attached by USB to a desktop PC running XP
Home Edition (SP2) which has a USB wifi connexion to an Inventel DW-B-200
ADSL router & works fine.
