Cannot View Computers on Network by
HankL
This computer is on Windows VISTA
When I select Network icon on my desktop in Office Computer (name of one of
my computers) so that I can see the other computers on my Network system,
they are not visible including Office Computer.
I have 3 computers at home. I can see all computers on the other two
computers. I am using MSHOME as my workgroup and all computers are set for
this.
I believe...

Sharing issue by
Barb
I want to be able to move a file across my home network (both PCs are Vista).
I have shared the destination folder with "Everyone" to be a co-owner. I do
not have passwords set up.
I can "see" the destination folder across the network and can open documents
in it, but it will not allow me to move files into it. The weird thing is, I
encountered this for the first time a couple of days...

Limited connectivity after failed un-install of Norton 360 by
Peter Smithson
Hi,
A friends Vista PC has been working fine for months. Then she
attempted to un-install Norton 360 and install Norton 2010. Since
then, she has the limited connectivity problem.
She's un-installed 2010 but 360 still appears in the add/remove
programs. If you click on it, it says there's a missing path.
With either wireless or a cable connection, it fails to get a proper

Files and Printer Sharing by

Hi:
I know that I have addressed this posting to some Vista Newsgroups even
though my computer in question is a Toshiba L455-S5980 running Windows 7
Home Premium, but hopefully someone can help me or direct me otherwise.
I have a wireless network with a Linksys WRT160N router connected to a
Sony desktop running XP MCE(2005). In addition, I have another Toshiba
laptop running XP Home...

Network Icon In Notification Area Shows Access Local Only by
Saucer Man
The network icon shows access Local Only. The network and sharing center
shows a red X to the internet. However, I have internet access. It's just
reporting that I don't. This is intermittent. Sometimes rebooting solves
the issue but the Local Only icon can come back shortly afterwards. Has
anyone seen this before?

Thanks.

Vista Laptop Regularly Loses Wireless Internet Connection by
nigelord
We have 3 PCs at home, 2 with XP on them and 1 with Vista. We use BT
Wireless Broadband. Every few days the Vista PC will lose connection -
it is still receiving the wireless signal from the router, but it
cannot get to the internet.
This rarely, if ever, happens on the XP machines.
The only way to re-connect the Vista machine to the internet is to
power off/on the router and then it reconnects...

How to logout-relogin wiht new user name by
TedT
I am using a Vista computer as a file server in our office. I have a few log
in names, but once I am logged in, everytime I go to the server it
automatically grants access, so I never get a chance to change my logout or
log in under another name. I need to reboot my computer before it will again
ask me for a login name and password. How can I log out of the server or
force the server to...

Dual connection: wired + wireless by
sbtm
Hi all,
I am currently running Vista Business. I have two connections: one
through NIC that access the LAN, which has limited access to the
Internet. The other, through a HSDPA USB modem. This USB modem obviously
cannot connect to the LAN and hence is only for Internet.
What I was wanting to do is connect both of them simultaneously and
access the LAN through NIC and the outside world through...

Delete WEP network by
jacksonmacd
Our community centre has WiFi with WEP security. When I try to connect
to it using my Win7 netbook, it does not offer any opportunity to
enter a password, then it thinks for about 1 minute, then issues a
failure message (I am writing this from memory at home, so I can't
recall the exact wording of the error message). IIRC, I had tried to
connect at some point in the past and may have entered an...

RIP Listener; IPRIP; Event 29031 by
Nathan
"IPRIP was unable to add a route to the system route table. The data is the
error code."
Vista Ultimate SP1
There are multiple entries in the System event log about every 30 seconds.
In the mean time I just stopped the RIP Listener service and have it's
startup set to manual.
I understand that RIP really isn't needed for most users, but the question
remains as "why" and "how can it be fixed".

Vista 64 fails to access net share in WXP Pro SP2 by
Cap Kirk
I have a small network with 4 pcs. 1 is Vista 64, two XP Pro and 1 W2K. Peer
to Peer. All machines could see the other machines shares without problem.
The net browser is the W2K machine.
I had to change the chassis of 1 XP Pro box because of heating. everything
was phisically moved to another chassis, no OS change watsoever, nor
component changes. Now, both XPs and the W2K can see shares in...
