Connects to router, but not to internet (I have tried EVERYTHING! help!) by wiseguy
Ok guys, to start things off I recently moved so I had to change from using a wired connection to a wireless connection. I bought a Netgear Wireless - N Router (WNR2000) and a Wireless-N 300 USB adapter. I'm running vista home premium x64 SP2. Everytime I diagnose the problem, it gives me the "there may be a problem with your DNS configuration" or the "cannot communicate with primary dns...

Win 7 sharing question by Questor[_2_]
I realize this is a Vista group, but I can't seem to locate any MS Win7 group with my NG reader (TB). On my Win7 machine (Win7 Home Premium)I have marked several folders as being shared, and they remain shared at all times, but there is absolutely NO indication of the folder being shared when viewed in Explorer on that computer. In previous versions of the OS there has been the 'palm-up...

Windows 7 file synch acting crazy by CANews
Hi I'm having problems with Windows Sync working with Offline Files. The following are symptoms that I'm seeing. Unless otherwise noted, treat them as though they are completely separate items as they don't always occur together: 1. I'll find undeleted .TMP files left over after working with the associated Excel, Word, etc. file. These are left over even though the files and applications were...

Here is a little background: FIRST, the connection is being made over the internet, with an invitation and password, not within a local network. SECOND, we can successfully make a Remote Desktop connection to each of the computers...

My desktop is a Win7 Ultimate system and laptop is Vista Ultimate. I've tired setting all the permissions for accessing certain drives on my Desktop (and laptop) but can't seem to access anything except the the usual Publich folders. At first, I was able to access an external, USB 1.5 TB drive, but as soon as I formatted from a FAT32 filesystem to NTFS, I could no longer access it--get an...

RemoteAccess connection by Rainer Strobel
Hello, I try to setup up a RAS connection via dial up line. As authentification type I have to use PAP. Everytime the authentification fails. In the system log I can see a error entry with the ID 20255. This says that the used authentification method can't be used because of a configured security policy.

Vista 'server' stops sharing by JR[_6_]
Have a small network I take care of with simple needs and they use Vista machines (yuck). Anyway, one of the machines is a 'server' sharing one folder. Every now and then this machine will stop sharing the folder for no apparent reason. Can go back and share it again no problem, but in a few months it will stop sharing it again as if it were never shared. It's nothing the user of the...
