Windows Meeting Space by
rhf137
I have two HP Pavilion laptops running Vista Home Premium plus a printer
on a home wireless network over a Linksys wireless router. The computers
can ping each other and can share folders and files.
I would like to set up a Windows Meeting Space meeting to enable one
computer to watch applications running on the other computer. I've tried
using both "existing Internet connection" and "ad hoc...

Recovering hard drive files by
Onofrio
Hi all;
I have a divx reader with hard disk connected by a wireless network to my PC:
while I was renaming some folders the network went down and the folders
become files, so now are unreadable.
Now, when I connect the network drive, in the left column I have 8 folders
(instead of the 10 that I had before) and two files of 0kb.
Before this problem these two files were two folders containing...

Joining Vista Home Basic to a Domain by
Joe
I would like to join a Vista Home Basic machine to an existing domain. When
I purchased the desktop from Dell I was told this was possible. Is it
possible? If not, there are some applications that call files stored on our
servers and since the desktop falls under the workgroup category every
morning when I login I have to type in the adminitrator username and password.
My Question:
Can I...

xbox 360 windows media center won't connect wirelessly by
oldguy99
Hi, 2 years ago bought a laptop with vista Home premium, and xbox360 was
automatically recognized. I set up nothing and it worked fine, and
wirelessly.
That laptop died and I got a new one, this time I had to set everything
up, for XP Media Center/xbox 360 and got it to work, but it will only
work if my laptop is wired, it won't work wirelesly. I still have Home
Premium, I think the new laptop...

Help - setup file share between WinXP and Vista on a home network by
User66
It has been years, we have been transferring files between our home PCs and
Laptops in our home network. But as we updated our Laptop with Vista SP1 &
SP2, the network has become a one way only. We can transfer files to the
rest of the network PCs, but the Vista Laptop does not let us in. We do see
it listed in our network.
We had to re-format the laptop drive and as we loaded the Vista...

Vista and XP by
Jenny-72
I've tried this method with my Epson Stylus Photo 895 attached to a Windows
XP Pro workstation but Vista x64 just asks for drivers because they aren't on
the XP Pro machine.
The problem is, the drivers are only available on the Vista install CD and I
can't find them.
I've tried connecting the printer to the Vista x64 machine but face similar
problems from the XP Pro machine.

Help: What is the administrator password? What if I've never set i by
john ha[_3_]
I have heard of the "administrator password" for a super-administrator.
But I have never "set" the "administrator password" or "super admin
password".
I do, however, have a user account with admin privileges that I set a
password to.
Is that the same thing? Does my creating a user account with admin
privileges and password make the password for the super-admin the same, or

Win 7 WPAD stops working by
Jeff Vandervoort
I use my Win 7 notebook on an office network with a proxy during the day,
and on my home network w/o proxy at night. Used to be that WPAD configured
the proxy settings for me, but it stopped working a week or two ago; don't
recall when. I have to manually turn on "Use a proxy server" at the office
and turn it off again at home. "Automatically detect settings" is turned on.
Any idea how I can...

Remote Desktop problems - one laptop works the other doesn't by
Jason[_20_]
This is strange. I have two nearly identical HP laptops.
Both are the same model, but one (that gives trouble) has
some additional hardware (video) features. Both are running
Vista Home Premium 64 and have all the updates applied. I am
trying to open a RD session on an XP Home Pro machine.
One of the HP's works without a hitch. The other one gives
up with a "Cannot Connect" message (but,...

Help: Not sharing folders, but can they still be hacked? by
john ha[_3_]
I'm using Vista but not sharing any folders at all on my
unsecured wireless network.
However, could a hacker in my apartment complex
still access the hard drive's files if my admin password is blank
(since I never set the admin pw up),
or even just another way,
even though I don't share any folders?

Can A Hacker Steal My Files If I Don't Share Any Folders In Vista File Sharing? by
john ha
Hi, I accidentally left my router unsecured for a couple of hours.
I also left my laptop on during this time,
connected wirelessly to the unsecured router.
My question is, can a hacker in my apartment complex
who really wants to, connect to this router and
hack into my laptop's hard drive and steal/transfer files?
I have not shared any folders.
