Cannot see Windows XP Computers by
Bill Fry
I have 3 PC's, and 2 Notebooks on a home network. I purchased a Vista
Machine and can not see the XP Pro Machines. I have upgraded one machine to
Vista and can see the other Vista machine, but still can not see the XP
Boxes. All have file sharing and all have the same Workgroup Name.
I can ping the machines, just not connect to them.

Vista VPN connect hangs at "verifying user name and password" by
derrickb
I'm having a problem with a Vista Home Premium system. When I attempt to
connect to an Win2k3 RRAS system, the Vista laptop occasionally connects and
works fine, but most of the time it hamgs at "verifying user name and
password" and times out. I see a couple of different error messages on the
client -- there is a 619 error and other times I receive an 806. I know it is
a problem with the...

Network Defaulting to Adhoc by
T. Jenkins
I'm having a problem connecting to a wireless network in an office where I'm
working as a consultant. The network is specifically for guests, and I used
it in the past. Not sure what changed, but about a week ago it stopped
working.
One thing that looks suspicious to me is that the network type is coming up
as "adhoc (peer-to-peer)." I've checked with the IT person here, who doesn't...

Can't see files on Xbox 360 by
Edison53
Been trying for hours to use Xbox 360 to access music and other files on my
compuer, using both Drive address and network address. ALL files can be seen
successfully on WMC on the Vista computer but nothing on the Xbox 360 --
except some photos on my son's XP machine (that worked easily).
Could really use a simple solution to this please!

Hi everybody,
I have a small soho network consisting of a Netgear router, a PC using XP SP
3 (let's call it "XP PC"), and another PC ( let's call it "Vista PC)
equipped with Vista Ultimate (French version sorry about my lousy
translations of what I see and read).
My configuration was very stable and my network was perfectly OK.
All of a sudden my Netgear router (DG834G) stopped working...

Can't connect to a secure web site by
lookingforanswers
To use some features on the Nascar.com web site, you need to log in through
https://secure.audience.nascar.com. Problem is, the site can't be reached or
pinged. Increasing ping time generates nothing but timeout errors. Something
in the computer is blocking it from reaching that web address, whether it's
entered as a name or a numeric address. This problem happens with four
different web...

Networking and Vista Problems by
Frank Parmelee
Several weeks ago I had to buy a new notebook but did not have the extra
money to have XP installed. So along with getting used to a new OS, I had to
spend two weeks or more ironing out networking and connection problems. With
a lot of patience and hard work eventually the problems got solved. I
suggest to you to read here, MS's Knowledgebase, and make phone calls and
you can get the tweaks...

Static IP Addresses in FIOS by

"Static Leased". Also, I know that I can assigned a static IP address
through VISTA. Is it necessary to do both? If not, is one preferable
over the other? I don't want overkill, but want...

The two XP's work flawlwssly with simple file sharing and printer

All Workgroups are the same.

eventually have to power off the machine to get it back up.
