For the last couple days I have been having a weird problem, When logging in after i have typed my PW my laptop will just hang at the "welcome" screen with the waiting icon, it seems like the computer is doing fine, It just hangs for sometimes ever and sometime 2-10 minutes. I wanted to see how fast I was backing up to my USB portable drive using EaseUs backup, so I looked in the task manager, see: http://www.hucker.plus.com/temp/backup.jpg It appears to have written 2.6TB in a few minutes. I have windows vista home premium edition. Recently, and I am guessing after an update that was automatically downloaded, I can no longer shutdown without manually shutting it down. When I click the icon to shutdown it goes to the screen that says windows is shutting down but never does, even after several hours. I haven't added any drivers or peripherals. Any ideas?

My son-in-law is a gamer and he is using Vista with a large monitor. I can't view an open FF window properly without sitting back about 10 feet. :-) Is there a way to get a full size open window to be a proportion of the screen size? I hope that made sense.
