problems with disk clean up by
melinda
Used to, when I did disk clean up, it would let me delete "system memory
dump" but now it only calculates it, but does not even offer for me to delete
it. Why and how can I start to delete that again?

Vectorworks 11.5 by
mappee
I use the progam Vectorworks 11.5. (CAD program) It works well on my desk
top which has windows XP pro. I installed it on my new laptop which has
windows vista home premium (pre installed). It worked for a few months and
then stopped working.
It opens using the compatability wizard but I need a more direct route to
open the program. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Unintentional Launch of Control Panel by
WyomingBob
My Vista (SP1, etc) control panel works just fine. Too well. It launches
when I click on the Start button. Not every time, but more than half the
time. This occurs with no correlation to mouse position or to the Start menu
option actually selected. It will often launch before I click on one of the
Start options.

Vista uses all 4GB of RAM when Installing software by
Darkvette
I have a unique issue. Whenever I install software such as games or various
programs, Vista will take up all 4 Gigs of my RAM, but in Task Manager - it
won't show anything taking up anywhere near that much memory. When the
install is finished, I usually have to reboot my PC to get it to free up the
RAM.
I tried using a RAM Defrag program called Memory Zipper Pro the last time it...

Scheduler wakes, doesn't wait for task to end, then goes back to s by
Pete Furtado
I have a task to run an executable. I have it set to run whether the user is
logged in or not, run with the highest privileges, wake the computer to run
this task, stop the task if it runs longer than 8 hours. It runs at 1am. The
task wakes the computer up at 1am fine, starts the executable, then puts the
computer back to sleep without waiting for the executable (a VS2005 SP1 C#
program I...

backup and restore pgm error 0x8000ffff by
bcpc43
my hp is 1 month old and the backup and restore pgm has been getting a
catastrophic error with a code 0x8000fff when I backup to C:\. If I go to a
cd it works fine. I was able to do backups up until 6 days ago. I have
spent 3 days with hp and they all have different options to try but none
which work. The error code seems to be used for a lot of things but I
haven't found any help for...

Setup Automatic Backups in Vista by
Hans Pennings
In a new Vista setup, I am trying to arrange for backups to a 2TB network
drive. The network drive is visible and can be written to and read from in

However, when trying to set up the Backup, and browse to a directory, I get
the error message: ... cannot create a file when that file already exists
(error 0x800700B7). When I type a non-existing directory in the hope that

driver id details - where to read about? by
Erhard Glueck
Hello,
first thanks, that windows update delivered a driver,
which healed the behavior destroying the shadow copies.
Now I would be interested to read about the driver version history.
The reference from the details in Windows Update History don't help.
Thank you for an advice

sleep mode by

Can't figure out why my computer wakes itself from sleep mode. After a while
it will go back into sleep mode then wake itself again. It will continue to
do this over and over without touching anything.
Using Vista on a Compac Presario.
Thanks,

Computer becomes unusable accessing compressed files by
ea3lf
Hi,
I understand compressing files to save space is not a good idea, but being
an option saves from time to time your life... usually.
I have some very large files from P2P applications, that were created with
the compression flag, that right now can't be used at all. When trying to
access them, or trying to "decompress" them, explorer.exe stops responding.
No Ctrl+Alt+Del.

Only booting up in Power Save after outage by
rickyh24
Last night my power went out. Every time my power fails Vista will only
start up in safe mode. If I try to start it normally it just goes right
into "Power Save" mode. This has happened a handful of times, however
it is usually an easy fix. I would just go into safe mode and run system
restore and restore my system to a previous date. This however did not
work last night. I can still boot up in...
