Vista has a mind of its own. by BethMarie
I am really tired of Vista deciding what it wants to do with no input from me. This time all the font sizes in the display windows decided to grow larger. It was fine when I turned off the PC, but when I turned it on the next day all the font sizes had grown by at least 100%. I tried to change the size of the font, but that did not work. In reality I would like to get rid of Vista and go...

These events have occured since I installed the following updates: KB947562 KB915597 (three definitions) I select the shut down icon from the start menu. Vista goes through the normal shut down sequence which includes ceasing the signal to the monitor and an external USB hard drive. However, the power lamp on the computer does not go out. Within a few minutes ( I have not timed this) the...

Computer Won't shut down by ryancr500
My computer is having a few problems lately.. When I try to shut down the computer, a screen pops up saying 'initializing crash dump' and suggests a memory check for a corrupt file somewhere. The only way to get the computer to shut down is to Hold Down the Power Button until it shuts down... How would I find a corrupt file? How do I do a memory check?

Can you help fix Reliability & Performance Monitor's Missing Histo by Julian
Vista HP BSOD'd this morning... When I went to check the reliability history ("System Stability Chart") to see what happened, I found the history ended on 26 Aug 07! I have checked that the RAC agent is enabled (as per "Enable Data Collection for Reliability Monitor" in the Management Console Help) and it has been running all this month... where's the history then?

Hibernation Problem by Ryka[_3_]
I asked this question in vista.general but no one answered me; so I hope someone in the group will help me. When I put my computer into Hibernate sometimes it will stay that way (all night), but, other times, with nothing changed from the night before, it will be Awake in the morning. What should I do to have Hibernate work all night every night? Thanks.

Hi. I've been using Windows Vista Premium for over a year now. So far I've no problems with it yet. However, just recently, I noticed that the icons for the computer and recycle bin were gone. Futhermore, the icon for some of the folders on my computer were either blank or a icon of the computer. Some files (ranging from the .dll to .exe) were changed to the computer icon as well. The icons...

I created a Data Collector Set with an agent (alert type) with Free Disk Space (megabytes) counter that should fire when it will be less than 80GB (so I put 80000). I also set the checkbox to write an entry into event viewer application log and also it should run a task (a batch file that create a simple *.txt...
