desktop freezing when idle by
djfergy
I have Vista Home Premium 32bit. When my PC becomes idle for different
periods of time, my desktop freezes. The little blue circle doesn't
move, mouse doesn't work, Ctrl, Alt, Delete doesn't work. I have to
turn it off and on again to get it to work.
As long as the system stays busy with something in motion, everything
is terrific. This has been going on for a couple of weeks &...

Windows Not Starting Past Loading Bar by
fearthephenom
New to the forums, hope this is the right place for this.
For the last few days, I haven't been able to start Windows past the
green loading bar. The first couple of days when I tried to turn on the
computer it would take me to an 'Error Start Up' screen where I would
try to restart using safe mode or something.
Now though, it does the blue HP screen, then goes black with a grey
loading bar...

Cursor constantly flashing loading sign... by
Absorbrelease
-(Moved from incorrect thread)-
This problem has been going on for about three weeks now. I don't
really know why. CPU usage is normal, fluctuates between 0 and 25. The
flash is super distracting. Any help would be appreciated. I cant figure
this one out for the life of me...
I don't have any viruses or rogue processes running that I can see. It
does not occur in safe mode but still does even...

Shortcuts for most software programs point to Windows Media Player by
antaresting
Many of the shortcuts that I have throughout my system (Windows Vista
on a Dell Studio 1537) have suddenly started to point to Windows Media
Player. If I try to open software programs through a shortcut, most
open Windows Media Player. Has anyone else had this problem? It
started this morning. I'm having to go into the program folder and
open individual programs directly at the application.

Computer freezes immediately after login by

I am trying to fix my daughter's PC which runs Vista SP2. The computer
boots up fine but when you click on a user (either an administrator or
limited user) you get to the welcome screen and then nothing happens.
Pressing ctrl alt delete twice gives you the task manager and then it is
possible to cancel and then everything works ok after that.

Resurrect the ReadyBoost Cache Delete on Reboot Thread by
TorosOfTheDead
After reading several threads regarding this issue from 2008, and seeing
no real solutions, I felt I had little choice but to resurrect it for my
own sake. It's now 2010, and apparently I have the same issue with the
same lack of solution.
I have ReadyBoost enabled on a brand new, ReadyBoost-compatible 8GB OCZ
Rally2 USB flash disk. However, upon every reboot, the cache file is

file assoiation. by
Hal[_6_]
lately when I try to open a file in windows mail movie, picture, PowerPoint
or any attachment. I get a message there is no association for this and to
make one. I have went to control panel to set an association but they are
already associated with the programs. Wonder what has happened.
Any suggestions?
