I posted here quite a while ago, with a problem using System Restore on my Vista Home Premium installation. The problem still exists, and I'm hoping for some fresh views on the subject. When I navigate to All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore, (and then click OK, Yes, I really do want to run this) I get the following error: blockquoteThere was an unexpected Error:

Problems with the sidebar after DirectX update by Ilya Sergeev
I've updated DirectX in Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit. After that all the sidebar gadgets started to display incorrectly. There are now some small problems with other applications, but problems with the sidebar are so serious that I couldn't use it at all. After the problem appeared I updated and re-installed my graphics card drivers (GeForce7400Go) and installed SP1. No any effect. What...

Bluescreen Error - FIXED by Laura[_7_]
Hi all, I just wanted to let everyone know, that after several various attempts to fix my computer, one thing finally worked. I had Norton Antivirus and using a suggestion given in this forum, I uninstalled it and downloaded another program. It took care of it. So, if you have Norton and have the same problem of your computer restarting from a bluescreen error, this may be causing it. Although...

Page font and other odd issue by donnadw
I hope I can explain this but for some reason even when I correct the font size, the type on webpages is very small. Additionally, most webpages seem to be centered on the screen, like the content of the page is minimized on the screen. It doesn't happen for all pages. I have searched for fixes to this issue without success- if anyone knows how to correct this I would be ecstatic.

Won't stay awake for scheduled task by MikeM
Task Scheduler wakes the machine from sleep to run the scheduled task. The task starts, but the machine goes back to sleep within a minute leaving the task partially complete. Is there any way to add commands to the task that will disable sleep mode while the task is running, then enable it when the task completes. I have tried the powercfg command to set the sleep time to 'never' (0) then...

SearchFilterHost Killing my CPU by kMan
Hello I'm running Vista Business. The following 3 processes are running my CPU to 100% use. It's laptop P-M 1.7Ghz. SearchFilterHost.exe SearchProtocolHost.exe SearchIndexer.exe I realise this is got to do with indexing searches, but how do i turn that off (surely MS let you turn it off)... Annoying the hell outta me having fans run fulltime and surely cannot be good for the CPU.

Windows Vista Event Viewer Problem by arash
My Windows Vista Event Viewer used to log all logon and logoff events, and I could audit all user account activities. But recently it just logs the logon event for user accounts and doesn't show any logoff event. I know how to turn on and off the auditing feature in Windows XP. But I can't find same thing in Windows Vista. I will appreciate if someone helps me.

Vista SP1 repair options by Electron
I had trouble with SP1 install and I got some blue-screens, (due to a bad driver). The p.c. is running now, but USB's don't work properly. So in the DOS boot up screen after a blue-screen dump, one option says put in original Windows disk and choose 'repair'. My question is that the original windows disk doesn't have SP1 files, so how does it do a repair? Does it go back to original files,...

Antivirus by Petey
Does anybody out there know if there's a free antivirus app that works with Vista? My Norton subscription ran out and don't think Norton is worth what Symantec charges. I know Computer Associates had a very good app for winxp, can't seem to find the same for Vista. Any help is greatl appreciated. thx PC
