Hi Bob,
One of February's updates was a cumulative security update for IE7. This

Vista won't boot after update installation...or girlfriend by
middlebit
Vista Home Premium here - I would greatly appreciate any relevant and helpful
information that could help me with this problem I'm having with my newish
Scaleo P2. I've never had problems with it for the two months I've had it.
Yesterday I was burning some system recovery discs, but I had to leave
before the process was finished. I asked my lady (no lady jokes, please :) to
just shut off the...

Printing problems with Vista by
Steve/Aus
Printing with Vista seems to be an absolute PITA. Printing is done over
the network to printers attached to XP machines, there are 2 lasers and an
inkjet. We also use a virtual postscript printer for writing EPS files. In
all cases, programs like CorelDraw and Adobe reader will lock up for a
minute or two with a non responsive message befor they print. Printing
usualy takes 3-4 minutes with...

KB931768 problem - ***solved*** by
Richard Urban
I had posted in a couple of various threads that I was also affected by this
update (KB931768) under both Vista and Windows XP. Under Vista, Windows Mail
had become so slow as to be almost impossible to use. Clicking on a post in
the news groups took about 2-4 seconds to show the text in the bottom.
Replying to a post also took about 2-4 seconds to bring us a usable reply
window. Shutting...

Accessing files in a windowsimagebackup by
LanM
Hello,
Bad day today: a crash disk. A new disk has been installed and I have tried
to recover my system using the image from the complete system backup I ran
one months ago, using the back up softaware of Vista Business.
Unfortunatelly, it seems that because it is a new hard disk the image cannot
be used. Actually, it has been impossible to even see the image file when
trying to restore the...

Vista Backup Failure by
JK
I am running Vista Home Premium. When I attempt a backup from Drive C to
Drive E (which is my second internal hard drive) I get an error message:
0x80070070. This error message started occurring approx. two or three months
ago. Before that time I never received an error message on backup. HP
Support (?) suggested that perhaps I was repeatedly saving my system to the
2nd hard drive, thus...

Device manager by
Captainswoosh
Recently, when I try and run Device Manager, I get the following error;
"MMC cannot initialize the snap-in".
An error pop-up window appears twice, clicking ok then opens an empty device
manager window.
This was not always the case so at some point something has changed.
Any solutions welcome.
O.S. = Windows Vista home premium.

Slow Shutdown - Cyberscrub by
K_Drive[_2_]
Hello. I used an application called Cyberscrub. I was working on some
sensitve material and used this to clear my hard drive files including
Internet History.
Everything seemed fine after I uninstalled the application. The only
exception is that now Vista Home Premium takes 3 minutes to shut down. I have
not had anyother problems. (No response from Cyberscrub support.)
I have read about...

cannot uninstall dreamscene(s) or enable SUA feature on Vista Ultimate by
Dave[_5_]
Hi Gang
Just trying to enable SUA on vista ultimate. I go to Control Panel, "Turn
Windows features on or off", and am presented with a stunning blank window!
Okay, so some googling later, I discover this is a common problem, with no
particular solution, other than a system restore.
So I check through removing a few updates, wondering how far back (...
months?) a dodgy update may have...

This has happened recently and I don't know why its doing this, but whenever
I download a program and try to run it, my Windows Explorer completly locks
up for like 5 - 10 min, and then my program executes. Its odd cause I can do
everything else like hit my start button and load other things...Its just
when I extract files and try to run them that it does this.

Vista Does NOT Defrag by
TheComputerWizard@Gmail.com
I have run Defrag several times on this computer and watched it finish.
Is there a way to get the defrag tool in Vista to report the file
fragmentation?
Why doesn't Vista defragment the volume fully when it is run?
When I switch over to the XP side on dual boot, I run XP's defrag tool.
XP's Defrag tool always reports that "I need to defrag this disk". Is it OK
to defrag the Vista...
