System Restore no longer functions (nor for that matter Windows Backup) on Vista Ultimate 32 bit: Error received is: Incompatible version of the serializing package 0x80070724. I followed the process described in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940970/en-us three times and it made no difference (with intervening reboots). Some questions:

I am attempting to prevent system restore from backing up anything with the file extension .dtt. If I create a restore point when the system does not have any .dtt files and later use that restore point, any files with the .dtt extension are removed. Is there any way to stop system restore from backing up .dtt files?
