Vista Safe Mode problem--stuck by
Chuckie07
I have the same problem as Mike, and it is very frustrating. I can't get out
of Safe Mode. I have tried the msconfig route to access the System
Configuration screen to check the "Normal Startup" box. But the Boot Options
listing still automatically checks the "Safe Boot-minimal" box. If I uncheck
the Safe Boot-minimal box, then the Normal Startup box automatically gets
unchecked and the...

Frankly, Win95 performed better by
Kovale
Well, recently i just bought a brand new PC:
Q6600
8800GTX
2GB RAM
Vista Home Premium came pre-installed.
So.... considering that this is a brand spanking new computer with an
uncluttered drive and a modern OS (fully upgraded) i wasn't expecting the
sheer amount of tedium that I am getting in terms of performance.
It takes about 10 - 15 minutes to start up. Thats right, from the first

Vista HP Users - Need Some Info on YOUR System Restore for comparison... by
Julian[_3_]
http://berossus,blogspot.com]
I - and I suspect many other Vista HP users - are suffering from having very
limited system restore capabilities (short history, just a few points)
With the help of Mark and a 3rd party utility from
http://www.shadowexplorer.com it has been discovered that my Vista HP system
is putting an awful lot more into ShadowStorage (where Vista keeps the

Run Program on Low/Critical Battery in Vista by
Lusipurr
Hello.
I would like to know how to set a Vista (Ultimate) system to run a program
at the Low and Critical battery states, as well as when it is plugged into
the AC power supply, and unplugged from the AC power supply. Under Windows
XP, this was easy to do through the Power settings in control panel in
conjunction with the task scheduler. However, I cannot figure out how to do
it at all...

Sleep, hibernate: wake up! (& bluetooth) by
Brenda
Maybe too much for one question. I have a new laptop running Home Premium 32
bit. When it goes to sleep (overnight) how do I wake it up? Keyboard or
touch pad doesn't do anything, and if I touch the power button, it restarts.
I can use the Media Direct button, but I don't want Media Direct.
Also, if it sleeps or hibernates, I lose the Bluetooth connection, and have
to reboot to get it...

Windows Explorer Crashing Randomly by
DarkMage530
I am using an Asus G1S with Vista Home Premium 32 installed. I've had my
computer since June of last Year. It's been working perfectly fine up until
about a week ago. Windows Explorer started crashing multiple times and
randomly. There has been no reason for it and I can't duplicate it.
Sometimes it's after I finish watching a video file in Media Player Classic,
sometimes when coming...

usually tells me that I have updates to download, is now telling me that is

everything I can think of the correct this problem, but to no avail. Can

Task Scheduler Error by
~Eva~[_2_]
Hi. I initially has a problem with my Windows Calendar. It use to have
the pop-up reminders a while ago (even when the program was not
running). However, not the reminders dont' show up anymore, I've got to
open WCalendar before it shows up telling me that everything is
'overdue'. I saw in another thread that the problem was with the Task
Scheduler. Tried to open it to see the Windows Calendar...

Diagnosing Slow Saves by

I don't know how else to phrase this. I hope someone can help. Often when I
go to save a file, say an email attachment but sometimes a new document in
Word -- whatever -- I'll get the little spinning icon and wait for a good 30
seconds, sometimes up to a minute, before the save window displays the
folders in my Documents folder.
What I would like to know is, does anyone know of a way using...

Disappearing Restore Points. Help? by
Julian[_3_]
There's quite a lot about limited restore point history around, but just to
add some more info of my own and to plead again for assistance!
Since recently posting about how woefully few restore points I have I've
been watching them... I think I racked up 5 or 6 (spanning a magnificent 4-5
days) and then all but one disappeared.
Yesterday (27 Feb) 2 new restore points were created (between...

Restore Points by
Malachi
My Windows Vista Ultimate will only save about 5 restore points, prior ones
are discarded by the system. I have 50 Gigs of free disk space. I would
like to save more restore points. Can anyone tell me how to do this?
Also, can restore points be set to save to a remote device, like a flash
drive?
Thank you in advance for your help!

Is there a way to auto-delete the oldest backup folders, created by the

Another Disk Cleanup Disaster by
John
Ran Disk cleanup on my home premium. When it was done all my data files
and about half my programs were trashed. When I rebooted I found it also
trashed the boot system. Had to run a fix install.
I have a clone drive so everything was backed up and I can re-install
the programs... but apparently no one should ever run Disk Cleanup... is
this true? I notice simlar things happend in this...
