markusallen
I just upgraded from the beta RC2 version to a purchased version of Vista. I
was using Ultimate and purchased Home Premium. When I try to restore the
backups I made under the RC2 version I get the message Restore did not
complete successfully. The parameter is incorrect. (0x80070057). I can see
the files in the backup location. How can I restore these files.

André Landreau
Hi everybody, all the best for 2008!
Now here is the problem:
My HP workstation has been running fine since March 2007 under Vista
Ultimate. Since several days it fails intermittently with a message saying
that Rundll32.dll was stopped by the Data Execution Checker (DEP) and then
freeze everything. Nothing works, mouse pointer gone, Ctrl+alter+delete does

Pendrives work quite slowly by
JMGM
I have a big problem. Since I use Vista my pendrives work quite slowly when I
insert them in the USB ports. It takes several minutes to read only the root
and more if I try to see the contents of some folders. After this (if Windows
Explorer doesn't hang and suggest to close and run again) I have access to my
pendrives at a normal speed.

Problem with cursor by
JMGM
I use Vista Home Premium and I have a problem: the cursor points to an icon
or file in a list but selectes the one beside and when I click I open the
program or file not desired. Usually it is selected the icon or file at the
tail of the arrow instead of the one at the point but this changes
continuously. I've tried with several mouses and I have even reinstalled
Vista from the disc instead...

Boot Menu by
whitepanther
I have a question in relation to why my computer, which is running Vista
Premium keeps displaying the boot menu screen directly after the Toshiba
screen appears upon turning on the power button, this is usually acheived by
pushing the F12 key; but for some unknown reason my finger/s are no where
near this key.

A good backup software alternative that integrates with Prev. Vers by

I think most Vista users agrees the new backup software is completely sucks
due to lack of file/folder selection. I want to get a better replacement but
I would like to have that integrate well with the previous versions feature (
that I personally think is a good feature) any good suggestion?

Indexing by
Errold32
Maybe I don't how indexing works but, to my understanding, it builds an
index, when first started, of all the files in the assigned places. That part
is fine. What annoys me is that it seems to rebuild this index perodically,
causing excessive hard drive activity. Does it modify the index when an
individual file is created, moved, or deleted? If so, why the periodic
reindexing? I have a...

Creating a new backup set folder by
RickN
I currently use the Vista (Ultimate) Backup and Restore Center to back up my
files. I would like to create a new backup set folder (for example, Backup
Set 2007-11-01 091921) so that I can delete older backup files to save disk
space. When I manually backup using the Back up files button in the Backup
and Restore Center, it simply creates another backup folder (Backup Files
12-25 154345)...

Question about mirroring volumes by
Mike T[_2_]
Hi,
I've just built a new system with a 500GB Samsung SATA drive. I've set up my
system volume to use 60GB. I also have a 160GB IDE hard drive from my old
machine. Is it feasible to mirror my system volume to the IDE through Disk
Management, or do they
both need to be SATA?
Also, my motherboard (Asus P5B SE) supports hardware RAID, but I believe
that would only work to mirror entire SATA...

Writing to DL disc (8GB) capacity. The backup finishes writing but then
fails partway through the verify process. It always fails with an error
message blaming the disc (maybe scratched or some other problem). But these
are top quality Verbatim DL discs and have never failed in ANY other DVD
writing program on the same hardware. Vista has destroyed two in a row (and
they're not cheap...

I just purchased a Dell Vostro 1400 with Windows Vista Home Edition. I tried
to install the drivers for my HP Deskjet F380 All in One. A pop up box

disc did not support Vista.Unfortunately I cannot get rid of this message
