new window opens behind previous window by
Eugene
Sometimes when I open a new program, or click on a link on the web, the new
window is nowhere to be found and I try opening it again, then discover it
opened up behind the previous program. This doesn't happen all the time, just
once in awhile, but it's very annoying. What is it about Vista that causes
this, and how can I prevent it?

4 GO Ram limitations by
Angelo100
We see lots of messages on many forums related to people wondering why their
system does not show their full 4,0 GO. I have 4 GO on both my desktop and
laptop. It showed 3,325 GO on the desktop before I upgraded to SP1 RC. Now it
shows 4,0. Same thing happenned when I upgraded to 4 GO to my laptop. Since
SP1 RC was already installed, it showed 4 GO right off he bat.
I guess it only shows the...

ALL programs say "not responding" before opening by
Darjis
not sure what's up, but EVERY program i open pauses (says Not
Responding) my physical memory is always at 65-75% even when the only
thing running is MSN messenger and it wasn't always like this.
while running firefox or safari internet is quick, and once the
programs are open, they run fine, just opening each program is causing a
problem.
\any ideas?

"Toolbar EULA" message window blocking view of desktop by
Roscoe's Mom
A few days ago an annoying window popped up at startup, blocking my view of
my desktop. The identifying bluestrip label says " Toolbar EULA". There is an
information icon and the words "This program cannot display the webpage",
followed by suggestions for how to make the program display
the webpage. My problem is that I can drag the window to the
bottom of the desktop where it is more or...

Why are files written already fragmented? by
Mike B
I've got Diskeeper installed now on my Vista Ultimate machine, and notice
that Diskeeper is working in the background on defragmenting some
newly-written files... you can see the name of the file it's working on.
Question is, since there is plenty of space on my disk, and this file is
new, why does it need defragmenting at all?
My guess is that the file is perhaps not being defragmented as...

System Restore Issue - Vista by
jlearley
The system restore function is not working properly on my Vista home
premium (which has RAID 1).
In the system protection tab, the box for available disks just says
"searching..". I cannot create a restore point or open the system
restore application.
After perusing various tech forums, I came across the below solution

No Name
When opening my laptop, my computer gave me a message saying it had an
unexpected shutdown. As my computer restarted, the desktop icons seemed huge!
Also, everything on the computer is zoomed and everything is huge also.
How can I put my computer back to the defaulted small icons and lower zoom?

Vista Writing to disk by
daveph1
Just a question to ask if anyone knows why explorer.exe and rundll.exe would
be writing almost 600kb a second to the harddrive of my laptop to files at
C:\Windows\system32\config\software and software.log1 have turned off
indexing, superfetch and readyboost which i found online to be the normal
disk activity causes
no performance loss at the moment but just annoyed at noise and sight as
well...

Partitions with different BCD definitions by
Erhard Glueck
Please a question to the boot process using VISTA,
I installed 2 different Vista's on different partitions;
those are able to be defined as active partitions.
With the partition, which is chronology and physical the first one,
set active, the settings defined with EasyBCD are working as intended.
When setting active the other partition,
the operating system located here will be booted,

Windows Vista 64-bit.
Every now and then I accidently do some unknown combination of controls with
my Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 2.0 mouse and it opens the Magnifier
program. It's then very difficult to navigate with the magnified window to
the Start button and select the "Accessories" "Ease of Access"
"Magnifier" to turn the darn thing off.
In the Magnifier setup I do NOT have the...
