My computer is freezing about 10 seconds after being unlocked or restarted. The desktop, bottom bar and start menu all freeze but if i am able to open applications before everything freezes i can use them while the rest of the computer is still frozen. ctrl+alt+del opens the normal page and i can open task manager but that instantly freezes. Does any one here also have a AMD Athlon X2 based HP notebook with heat issues? meaning that when the notebook gets hot the fan is more than noticeably loud? Any suggestions or tweaks that will help fix it? So far i have used an external cooling pad, some of which dont work as they claim, and i have tried to elevate it from the back which helps some. -- hpx64

Okay Guys, I've been having this really annowing problem where after a while (about 10 - 20 minutes, can be 5 minutes) no programs will start. I double click on them and they will not start. It has the mouse and it is got the loading sign for 5 seconds then it goes of and nothing happens!!!! I also sometimes i get this blue screen error that says 'IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL'

I am unable to backup anything in Windows Vista Ultimate. I am using the Backup Files function in Vista to backup files to a local network location. I have two label printers that use serial ports - but my new Vista HP Pavilion doesn't have any. Is there some connecting cord I can purchase to get the job done?

When I put sleep mode on - ie low power mode so I can just press a key and resume with all my apps running as i left them - my machine tries to power up again and then comes up with a message that Windows didn't shut down properly and needs to be restarted.
