Hibernate by Ryka
I have read every article at least twice and tried every suggestion I've been given - all to no avail. I am not able to enable the missing Hibernate feature. A couple of the articles state that the feature make have been removed during a Disk Clean-Up. How can I restore the feature or download a new one?? There must be a fix or repair for this problem, right? All suggestions appreciated.

Vista Ultimate performance by PeterC
Running Ultimate on Dell Prec490, duoprocessors, dualcores, 4 Gb ram, 2 drives. Only Office and a few other applications loaded to date, Live One Care protection. Computer has transitory but frequent hangups that last 30 sec to 3 min or more. Nothing to do but wait while the "busy" circle gyrates. Often happens when opening a folder or clicking a command, but not ever predictable or...

I bought an alienware laptop a month or so ago and it came preloaded with vista home basic up until a couple of days ago when the lid of the laptop was shut it would go to sleep but for some reason this no longer happens. The pc keeps running, the fan whirs all night and the battery eventually dies as it thinks the laptop is still in use. I have no peripherals such as mouse or any usb...

Slow wireless network transfers by Lord Takyon
I finally have Vista Home Premium 32 running lean and smooth, except for the bleeding network transfers. Basically they are slow, painfully slow. I have tried over a wired LAN, faster but still very slow, wireless, really slow at around 80 -90 KB/s. LOL I have even tried ad-hoc wireless. All involved machines have excellent signal strength and internet downloads etc are full speed. These...

Shut Down Problem by sarahwrightnow
Hello, I was surfing the web when the computer froze. I tried the usual ctr+alt+delete, but got no response. I pressed and held the power button to shut the computer down. When I tried to boot it back up, the power light on the CPU came on, but there was nothing on the monitor. Can anyone tell me how I can fix this? Thanks, Sarah

Visual Affects Not Working In Administrator Account by Bambi32
After installing Vista Home Premium on a computer I built myself, I noticed the visual affects not working properly. I've only had it a couple days, so I am still getting used to everything. I created another account for another person, and their accound shows all visual affects. I have checked my settings, and all affects are turned on. I know there is nothing wrong with my system....

Problems with zip extraction by Alessandro
After changing to Visa I'm getting a real big problem with zip files: a 100Mb file lasts more than 1 hour to be extracted. This is clearly a problem. I tried to address the problem by using Winzip, but the problem persists. Normal copies goes okay, this is no disk transfer rate problem... is anyone getting some similar problem? Thanks

Defrag Details in Vista by Jon
Hi. I was wondering how I could see the details of my disk fragmentation in Vista Home Premium. I recently had my computer go through a full diagnostic at Best Buy and it said that my disk was 26% fragmented with a suggestion that it stay below 10%. I was wondering if there was anything in Vista that would allow me to see the percentage so I can defrag to keep under the 10% or if I need a...

RAM Usage Management by Makoto
I have recently upgraded to Vista, and i really like the new look. I don't have any performance issues when running normally, but when i work with graphics, the software starts to lag. I understand that large graphics tend to slow down the system. However, from what i'm seeing on the CPU meter, even when my graphics are lagging, my RAM usage is never higher than 55%. If the remaining 45% of...

Strange performance drop in Vista by Dag
Hi all, I purchased Vista a month or so ago, and I really enjoyed using the new operating system, but unfortunately it caused a significant impact on my gaming performance - so significant that I was forced to go back to XP. I'm talking around 30-50% worse framerates, depending on the game. Here are my system specs: Motherboard: ASUS M2N-SLI AM2 PCI-E SATA2 Processor: AMD Athlon 64 AM2 3800+...

System Restore Shadows To Another Volume by shawn.dba
Hello, I've not been able to find a method to use the /for /on switches effectively from the vssadmin command in Vista Ultimate. I'd like to: vssadmin create ShadowStorage /On=E: /For=C: /Maxsize=3GB I'll soon get a second drive and use it for all shadows. Is this at all possible? -- Shawn Burton
