Vista's Not letting me download anything... by Samuel K.
I just bought a computer that had Vista installed on it and I'm having problems with downloading any program files from the Internet to a second administrator account. Can anyone help me with how to fix this? Sometimes it will fully download when I click on run, then disappear. I try to search for the file, but it doesn't exist. Please, any help would be appreciated!

Reliability Monitor is not updating by lkuderick
I installed Vista Ultimate last week. I didn't encounter any problems, in fact, the whole experience has been very good. Everything I've installed has either worked or MS detected during the install of the software that newer versions were available. However, I checked my Reliability monitor and it hasn't updated since the install date of 2/6. Anyone have any suggestions (short of...

stability of PC after upgrade by peugeot207
My mom's a bit concerned about me upgrading to Vista because she fears the notebook I want to upgrade would become unstable. How often does this happen? Remind me if an issue like this crops up.

Readyboost drive by canixs
I have a gateway 7510gx with 1.5G ram, running window vista x64. I also dedicated a 4G 150x Lexar usb jumpdrive lightning for the Readyboost. Every time the USB drive is writing data or reading the data, my sound card (creative audigy 2 ZS notebook) got very bad static noise. My CPU usage are at 20%-30% most of the time with couple opened programs, my question is: is this normal?

Is there a way to see what is going on with superfetch? by Lakesidezx
Im guessing that vista must be utilizing superfetch on my computer because I just opened task manager to see that where the memory part is, it says that I have 2054 and that 1453 cache and 4 or 5 free. But what exactly is in that cache? How does one turn off the feature? My thoughts on this are that I may be quite sporadic in my usage of my computer, so if it's caching what vista thinks Im...

Please Help, Vista Takes About 10 Minutes to Start Up. Literally! by Chad S
Ok, this just started and it is EXTREMELY frustrating. I have BitLocker installed and I am using it but it does this with or without BitLocker so I don’t believe that would be the problem. Anyways, heres what happens. I can be in Windows Vista doing anything and it will run fine, then I can go to restart or turn off the computer. When the computer comes back on it says BitLocker key...

SuperFetch by Robert McN
My understanding is that with SuperFetch, I can load much of the new Vista OS into flash memory and thus accelerate the boot up process. Is this correct? It there a point where flash memory becomes excessive? Would a 4 GB Compact flash be useful or is that excessive?

ReadyBoost and ReadyDrive by NicholasJohn16
By using a ReadyBoost USB Key, will it use it to speed up boot up time like with a ReadyDrive? Or is the Ready Drive feature exclusive to hybrid hard drives? I'm thinking about geting a new Vista computer, but might wait for hybrid hard drives to become more avaliable before if ReadyBoost won't help with boot up times. Thanks.

wireless icon in the notification area by acook
For the past few days I have been trying to figure out why it takes so long to connect wirelessly. I have discovered that I'm connected immediately after boot, it's the icon in the notification area that takes forever to change to "connected" Is there any rhyme or reason for this?

Question about performance and use of speech recognition on Vista by Quixotic1
Hi: I have a question regarding the use of Speech Recognition and what performance hits I might be taking, if any. I am not running Speech Recognition for that purpose - it appears that my new laptop causes a high pitch noise any time the power supply charges the battery. But, if I place the Speech Recognition system into the middle option - not on, not off - but waiting for me to say "Start...
