My Lenovo 3000 laptop came with Windows Vista Home Premium. Whenever I start it up and log on, the hard drive is active for five minutes or more after all of the startup applications have initialized. The performance monitor shows a huge number of reads and writes being done by the kernel. I've tried turning off every feature I can think of, but nothing has any effect. What is happening?

Had had vista Home premium on new gateway laptop since 1/31 lost Sidebar last week, nothing happens except slight cursor for about five seconds when i try to run it.

Help, no matter how little of a delay I have, my screen saver NEVER turns on. I can leave the computer for 8 hours only to come back to the desktop still there! I have tried different screen savers, different wait times, never activates...help!

If I do a Complete PC Backup, will I be able to restore just my XP or just my Vista if I want to leave one of them just the way it is and restore the other? When I Alt-Tab now I don't get the usual display but instead a rectangle in the centre of the screen containing miniature pics of the pages I have open. Time for a new video card maybe. I added 1GB of Corsair XMS CL2 ram to the 2GB I already have. I lost .1 on the memory Index. I then went from a 3.4GHz 512\800 cpu to a 3.4 Extrme Edition cpu and I drop .1 on the processor index. What gives? EG

I am able to manually put Windows Vista to sleep by either the power button on the Start menu or even by a voice recognition command, but my settings for sleep after so many minutes does not work. Can anyone tell my why Vista only recognizes 2 gig of RAM, even when I have 4 gig installed? My BIOS sees 4 gig.
