appears of this blue screen which had some explanation to the crash however
it was too quick to read then a restart happens.
What is this...

Volume Shadow Copy - Can it be turned off by
GreenWing
I have a strict system backup procedure in place where I backup to a USB
hard drive every week night using Acronis TrueImage 10...I keep 10 or more
backup images on that external drive to ensure I can restore my system to a
recent point...
With VSS and restore points, the backups get larger and larger each night...
Do I need to use vssadmin and set the shadowstorage to zero for each drive...

Icon has changed without any action by me by
Hedy Keller
I had created a link for my dial-up (DSL) onto the desktop. It appeared a
nice icon with 2 blue screens and a little device (a modem?).
After a couple of system starts, that icon changed to a different one, seems
like the notepad icon or so.
I have searched several sources (system files) for the original icon -
couldn't find it.
Okay, it's not so important, which icon. But I put the...

Replace boot HD and Restore comp with Retail Ultimate by
Julien321
I have retail Ultimate and do full boot HD (C:) back up (back up computer) to
a USB HD. Lets say my boot HD (C:) fails and I then have to replace with new
unformatted (blank) HD. How do I do a full computer restore from the USB HD
to the new HD with no Vista (operating system) to start from?
Also should I do a full Backup computer each week or do a Back up files
every week?

Cookies Location by
D. Spencer Hines
It makes a BIG Difference.
I'd much rather just navigate on my own and not use a crutch in Start.
You learn the architecture of the OS much faster that way -- and can
REMEMBER where important folders are hidden.
EIGHT Layers from C:\ to Cookies, in Vista?
Ridiculous!

Defrag Problems by
crzycrkr
I have searched and don't see a clear cut answer. I have the defrag in vista
running weekly, yet system mechanic 7 tells me my HD is 37% fragmented and
increasing. I even tried running the vista defrag manually and it ran for
about 30 hours and I still seem to have the same problem. Is system mechanic
lying to me? I have noticed a bit of slowdown when navigating my folders,
especially in...

Is Performance Index different per version? by
Computer-Ed
I had my system running 32 Vista Business, I was rating a 5.1 on my CPU
and a 5.9 on my Memory. I just bought Vista 64 bit Ultimate and
installed it clean, with my drivers in place my CPU is 5;0 and my
memory is 5.0.
The CPU drop is minor and of no real concern but that is a fairly
serious drop in memory speed.

Reliability Monitor lost its history by
Trumba
I've been getting a number of hibernate related reboots every day (probably
due to a driver issue) and have been tracking them using Reliability monitor.
Today I checked it and there were about 10 columns showing, all for the date
12/31/69.
I don't really care about the old data, but is there a way to clear the log
so it will start recording again?

I just downloaded Vista, and now when I go to certain sites, such as
pogo.com, my computer gets this black screen flashing on before my computer
shuts down telling me it has to shut down or damage my computer. There is a
bunch more stuff, but it flashes so quickly, I cannot read it. My computer
restarts, but will ask me if I want to start in safe mode, or regular mode.
