Changing font sizes by Bill Walsh
For instance, I have Winamp set to the modern skin, when it is on the desktop, the whole player is very tiny and I can barely read the menu. On my old computer, Winamp was a nice size and easy to see. I can't drag the edges to make it larger. Any help? Thanks

New to Vista.......question regarding GUI vs Command Line Disc Defragmenter by stcshindo
Hi guys, new to Vista and new to these forums. I bought an Acer Aspire 6530 last week. I noticed whenever I go to the GUI disk defragmenter (My ComputerRight click C:PropertiesToolsDegfragmentation) that it ALWAYS says I need to defrag the drive even after I did did one. But when I do the command line defrag (StartAll ProgramsAccessories, Command Prompt and chose “Run as...

Vista boot times by Tomed
I've had Vista x64 installed for about 2 full months now and I've recently begun having a **** ton of problems. One being: http://images.tomed.org/boottime.jpg] 187 seconds. What the ****. Before you ask, here are 'my specs' (http://tomed.org/specs.htm). Lots of fast memory, a fast processor, 7200RPM boot drive (not listed), and ****ing awful performance. What gets me is that the delayed boot...

I need to restore files from Vista Backup file structure by W
I backed up my files (not the full system backup) using the Vista Backup tool. My computer crashed and it wont allow me to restore from the drive that I had previously backed my files up to (it says its a system drive for some reason). I do, however, see the backup catalog on the drive and can access the files within. Most of the files can be located and restored just by dragging them...

Sluggish cursor movement by John Harris[_3_]
Hi. In another thread there was a discussion about spyware. I followed some of the advice given and now all of a sudden, the cursor movement is sluggish. Also, when I boot up, my password is sometimes rejected two or three times even though I am being careful in typing. Sometimes I have to click on a link three or four times before it works. My machine is a Packard Bell desktop with 32-bit...

Internet Explorer has stopped working by GailCouny
Hello all.... When I close down an Internet browsing window, I get an error saying "Internet Explorer has stopped working. A problem caused the window to stop working correctly. Windows will close the window and notify you if a solution is available" 1 This happens when I intentionally close a window down. I use Windows Vista, and have searched forums and help columns but to no avail...

Registry Cleaners? by Bill Walsh
On my recently deceased computer, I had downloaded a registry cleaner many years ago. It was simply called "Registry Cleaner" and it was freeware. Looking around the modern internet all the newer registry cleaners are for sale only. The one had was terrific: cleaned the registry, uninstalled programs, etc. Is there anything out there right now? Tiger Woods Game by Bill Walsh
I have a brand new game that has a label that the system requirement is WindowsXP. My new Acer computer came with Vista Home Premium and only a dvd burner/player and it is labeled as drive E. The game instructions assume a drive D on the computer but there is none. Any attempt at installing results in a pop up windows that reads: "invalid drive". Any way to change the drive letter on the...

LOGOFF Forces Shutdown & Ree-boot by lonach
:confused::confused:I have a Gateway DX4200-09, AMD Quad-core, 4GB and running Vista Home Premium 64bit. When I try to logoff, it starts to properly, but then the screen goes blank and my monitor informs me that there is no connection with the system (but the system is still powered on). No matter how long I wait, up to 1 hour, I have to power-off the system to re-boot. During the boot,...

Automatic System Restore Points and SP2 by richc46
After installing SP2, on 5/25, System Restore seems to have stopped creating automatic restore points every 24 hours. I checked the Task Manger and it is set for 24 hours. It shows a restore point being created on 5/26. System Restore shows the last Restore Point being created on 5/25 about 1 hour after downloading SP2. -- richc46

Explorer at 99% CPU constantly by FirasKay
Hey guys, This has been going on for quite a while but its getting to severe points. What's happening is basically explorer.exe jumps straight to 95-99% when vista boots and remains like that without budging, resulting in extreme slow computer performance. Attempting to close the explorer then restarting will temporary bring it back to aroung 50% but it will soon jump up again, restarting doesnt...

Slow on logoff. by Erik
When a user is connected to the wired lan, then disconnects and connects to a wireless hotspot and tries to log off or shut down the normal 14 seconds ballon up into the minutes. I've narrowed the process down to GPClient, but as to what exactly GPClient is trying to do that is causing the increased time I have not figured out. Any suggestions on drilling down more on GPClient? Logoff...
