audiodg.exe causing Bad performance issues. by
Rob
audiodg.exe , what is it?? (Windows audio device graph isolation?)
It uses crazy ammounts of CPU and memory when I am just doing something
simple like watching WMC live TV.
Do I need this?
Can I turn it off or stop the process without killing my Vista install?
Is it supposed to use up this many resources when doing simple tasks?

Size of icons and preview of windows by
www8
Hello,
I've got two question:
First, How can I resize a desktop icons ? For me, they're too big.
And second, in Beta 2 (build 5384) there was a feature, which showed a small
preview of a window, when you put mouse arrow on name of this window in
Taskbar. This was really nice and helpful, but now in RC1, I can't find this
option. In Beta 2 it was even default.

General Performance Question by
Travis King
This will be a general question. How does the performance in the RTM
compare with the performance of RC2 (build 5744)? Performance was
generally good and in some cases faster in RC2 than XP, but some other
areas were slower, especially Windows Media Player 11 where mfpmp.exe
ate a lot of CPU resources (up to 10%) and DWM also ate a lot of CPU
resources when WMP11 was running for some...

Memory Question by
Will
Had Crucial Ballistix ( 2 x 1 gig dual channel ) running Vista and just
added some PQI ( also 2 x 1 gig dual channel ) that I had purchased (lt I
had the crucial replaced as it was faulty.) Now it only shows as 2.48 gig
memory under Vista. Any reasons why this would happen ?
btw: Motherboard is Asus A8N32 Sli deluxe but cant find the manual

Computer - Hard Drives Icons - Change Free Space Colour by
ukSOUP
Hi. I've spent hours trying to find this answer so thanks if you can help.
When on the "computer" window and icons set as tiles, hard drives report
"free space". I like this view.
Usually showing blue but changes to red when free space is 10% or less. I
wish to change when Vista considers my hard drives are nearly full (ie the
10% default setting).
As an example, one of my storage hard drives...

Trying USB memory speed up by
Bob
Just finished my Vista Ultimate install and received a free 1GB usb flash
drive with the purchase. Plugged it in and configured to speed up system and
was wondering if I'll actually see a difference on my system ( 2 GB ram
installed). Anyone play around with this yet and have an opinion? From what
I read with 2 GB system memory the speedup won't be much and it will be hard
for me to tell...

2 SATA Drives????? by
OpeXp
I'm trying to figure out how to use the second drive for other than just
backing up data... will this work for my second drive and how best do you do
it with Vista:
I don't have a drive for just the pagefile, but I do have a second physical
drive (a RAID 1 array) that's used as a secondary data drive. I don't access
it frequently, so I put the pagefile on that drive. You can specify the...

Memory Recognition by
gregcols
Is there a limitation on the amount of memory recognized by Windows Vista? I
know in the past Windows versions it would only show a maximum of 3000MB even
if you had more memory in the computer. Thanks in advance for anyones help.

Processor FSB Query by
Robert
I am running Vista Home Premium on a Core2 Duo E6400 running at 2.13ghz. My
bios tells me that the processor is running at 2176Mhz which when halved is
1088Mhz, roughly the 1066FSB for the processor.
Vista reports in Computer properties the correct processor and speed but
reports the FSB as 800Mhz. I have checked the power settings and these seem
ok. My understanding is that if the FSB is...

Shutdown / SLeep problem by
Chad
When I do shutdown via the start menu, it shows as shutting down and power
does go off. The odd part is (when AC plugged in and battery is 100%) if I
go turn this on 2 hours later or even less (without AC) battery shows about
85% - 91% level. Why does it lose about 10%-15%? This can't be normal.
Also, is it normal that it takes about 10 seconds to get out of standby or
hibernation
(sleep mode)...

Explorer performance by
McFly
Upgraded my XP notebook to Vista business last week. I've noticed that
Explorer has slowed down considerably. For example; loading My Computer can
take 15-20 seconds or opening the dialog to save an attachment from Outlook
even longer.
I'm running a dual core processor with 2gb of RAM so i don't believe it's
hardware issue.
does anyone have any suggestions?
