Dual Monitors and Internet Explorer by
Chris Mattison
Does anyone else have problems with preformance problems with Vista Ultimate
while running dual monitors?
Everything runs great on this system, but as soon as I try to play WoW, it
stutters and comes to a grinding halt until I set everything into windowed
mode so everything is tiny.
I know the obvious answer is, turn off the other monitor...well I shouldn't
have to.
I even went so far as to...

CPU at 100% by
Barry
Happy Holidays to all:
I have installed Windows Vista Beta 2 Build 5384. Also installed are Office
2007 Trial and PCCillin 2007 internet security suite. Windows Explorer is
taking between 80 - 95% of the CPU and does not seem to consume less than 75%
of the resources at any time. This is making the system extremely slow and
nearly impossible to use. Has anyone run into this problem or...

Tape drives removed from native backup tool by
WhatHappenedToTapeDrives
Hello, I cannot seem to find anything that indicates that Vista supports the
use of tape drives for doing backups. Tape drives have longer media life and
are very reliable. The current backup strategies do not allow customers to
keep offsite backups. Tapes are the way to go for offsiting. Do you expect
customers to buy a bunch of hard drives or use some 55 DVD's to do a 400 GB
backup. ...

Where are settings for "Confirm after download" & "in same window" by
Roland
What control panel applet or other application dialog can modify these
settings? Registry modifications seem to work, but we wish to include clearly
documented instructions in our manual. For XP we used screen captures of the
Folder Options applet, but these cannot be found in Vista.
We maintain a web application in which Word documents and Excel sheets can be
returned to the user. Both type...

performance, compatibility question by
thunderstruck_302@hotmail.com
I have been looking at Vista for some time now. I have an AMD Turion64,
1.8Ghz 1MBL2 cache with 1GB of RAM, and an ATI Radeon Xpress200M. The vista
compatibility scanner thing tells me that my graphics card will not run Aero.
I have read in the past that DirectX 10, which is not yet released, is
required to run Aero... But I am ALSO reading people's reviews on the system
and they comment on...

Adaptive Display - Power Setting... by
FunkyMagic
Could someone point me at a more detailed description of what the adaptive
display configuration actually DOES?
I think it extends the time before going into display off...but by how much,
and if this extended time remains in situ for future idle timings I don't
know.
Thanks.

Really slow copy/move and delete, & maybe reading by
turtlesoup
Hi,
I'm running Vista x86 RC2 and have noticed really poor copy speeds.
When I copy files that are 100*MB *or more I can get around 40 MB/s.
That's copying from one drive to another (sata drives).
But when I copy smaller files around 100*KB* then I can only get copy
speeds of about 7 MB/s. This is about half the speed I can get in XP.
Also, when I try and delete a bunch of these 100KB or...

Update error 80072ee5 by
rebellious1dg
When checking for updates with Vista I am receiving a 80072ee5 error. I
cannot find any refernce to this error in KB, support, or Technet.
I am on a home network and we utilize WSUS (Windows Systems Update Server)
on Small Business Server 2003 where group policy controls how automatic
updates are installed.
Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Windows Vista Backup and Restore Center by
Stan
Does anyone else think this app sucks? Maybe it's just limited.
I want to be able to choose what gets backed up on my laptop, not have
Microsoft decide what to backup.
ie: I keep ALL my data, and I do mean all, in a folder called My Data on
the C drive. I have been doing this for years.
And that is all I want to backup. I don't do complete system backups, if
that anything ever happens...

Backup files vs Compleate PC by
Toby Broom
Why would you do a backup of files vs complete backup?
It seemed quicker to a complete backup than a regular one.
The Complete can be automated through a scheduled task, so why do a regular
backup?

Recovery Console in Vista? by
Jo
Does Vista have the ability to install a Recovery Console similar to WinXP?
Is it a console specific to Vista? I have a new computer with one SATA drive
and no floppy drive. I can't get into the recovery console at all because I
get a blue screen, I think due to not being able to install the SATA drivers.
Vista has the ability to access a CD for drivers, unlike XP, and I'm
thinking if it...
