The initial problem is the following: Problem #1 Assuming I have all visual effects enabled, the computer boots, Vista loads, everything is pretty and fine. Physical Address Extension (PAE) does not work on vista as expected. by Sarah White
I upgraded (a so-called "clean install" on same partition... it made xp pro x64 unusable by renaming various system folders) to windows vista home basic hoping that PAE would work. I had assumed that 4GB RAM would be no problem (the intel e6600 core2duo in this system supports 64bit instructions, and as a result PAE works on linux just fine) though it is not doing what I expected. After...

I'm running Vista Business x86 and thinking of upgrading my single core CPU to a dual core CPU. Will this be transparent to the operating system or will a repair be necessary?

Vista 64 and Memory Leak by John W[_4_]
I am running Vista 64 Home Premium on an HP m9300t (4GB RAM) and believe I have a memory leak. For the most part I am running shrink wrap SW that came with the system or was purchased. When I start up the system the sidebar "All CPU Meter" shows 38% memory usage. As time goes on I notice this number increasing. Obviously rebooting gets me back down but I would like to find a utility that...

Hi all, I am running Vista 64. I want to record performance monitoring to a local instance of SQL Express 2008. So, I created a database in SQL and made my Windows login the owner. Created a System DSN using the SQL Server Native Client 10.0, and it tested OK. I have created a data collector set and configured the performance counter to output to the SQL DSN. The collector set is "Run...
