Frequent shutdown and restart after about 3 to 10 minutes from sta by
Roy Mayo[_2_]
Hi,
I run Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 on a well equipped Abit AV8 socket 939
AGP motherboard.
Recently, about 3 to 10 minutes after startup and while running quite common
programs, the computer suddenly shuts down, restarts up to the point where i
have to enter the password. After it is running again, a window appears which
says " The computer has recovered from an unexpected shutdown"...

users sharing programs and software by
Milt[_3_]
How can all users on one computer access Windows Office and other
applications, and have shortcuts on each of their desktops? I think I made a
mistake and moved Word and Excel to my desktop, and now the other user has to
use my login to access them.

Big Brains on this BSOD from disk.sys please! by
Julian[_3_]
Since SP1 this ~1 year old OEM installed Vista HP laptop has taken to
BSOD'ing ~every workday when woken from sleep after moving from home to a
wifi hotspot.
MS' advice is to do a clean install of Vista... which would be such a pain
I'm only going to do it if all else fails.
I attach the results of windbg on the latest minidump file, which is typical
of most in indicating the fault occured...

Vista boot times by
Tomed
I've had Vista x64 installed for about 2 full months now and I've
recently begun having a **** ton of problems. One being:
http://images.tomed.org/boottime.jpg]
187 seconds. What the ****.
Before you ask, here are 'my specs' (http://tomed.org/specs.htm). Lots
of fast memory, a fast processor, 7200RPM boot drive (not listed), and
****ing awful performance. What gets me is that the delayed boot...

Vista Boot slow by
d0od
Vista used to boot up very quickly. Now it spends ages on the page with
the "loading" bar. Is it performing some sort of CHKDSK during this
time?
I only have sidebar and rocket dock starting up, and it's fast again
when it gets to the desktop, it's just that loading bit takes quite an
ages, and it didn't used to.
Virus/spyware/malware free.

Hi guys,
Randomly last night when I logged into my account on Vista, my
wallpaper was gone and a little bubble popped up saying:
"FAILED TO CONNECT TO A WINDOWS SERVICE
Windows could not connect to the Profiles service. This problem
prevents limited users from logging on to the system.

Clock malfunction by
jshann
I am having issues with my clock. It seems that everytime I close my laptop
the clock freezes in time. When it is open it also seems like it loses time.
I have to continually update it to get the correct time but if I close my
laptop or if my internet drops the signal, it stops working. Does anyone have
any helpful info on what is either wrong/what I can do to fix it?

High CPU usage after browsing NAS folder by
¡°James~¤pª¯¡°
explorer.exe starts using 50+ % of the cpu resources after browsing NAS
folder
closing the folder and switch off the wireless conection does not reduce the
high cpu usage used by explorer.exe
Using process explorer I am able to suspend the thread "
ntdll.dll!Rtdecodepointer +0x9b "
which seems to be causing the high cpu usage but once I resume , the cpu
usage is back onto 50%+ without any...
