About a week ago it looks like Windows hasn't been idling. The search indexer will only run at full speed, and scheduled tasks that are set to run only when idle won't run, even though they are set to run in the middle of the night when I haven't touched the computer for hours. Having installed loads of windows updates I'd hate to have do them from scratch again if my hard drive fails. I know there is a recovery drive (D) but I assume this is a partition on the same physical disc. Ok, my file extensions are all hidden. I've always been able to fix this in the past under xp and even vista. However... There is no folder options icon in my control panel.
