Internet Explorer bug: never ending pop ups by
gugliemo
This is the third Vista laptop (out of 3) which i've experienced this
problem on. Occasionally when you open a link 'In New Window' vista will
start opening endless new windows and the only way to stop it is to log
out or wait long enough for IE to crash and close all its windows. Any
idea how I can get rid of this bug?
Thanks

Microsoft PC Advisor Discontinued by
goorambatman
This is the response on the Microsoft Connect site. Looks like one of
Microsoft's best ideas of recent times has been scrapped?
What a shame, this program would have made Windows so much better. I could
be wrong but it looks like this project has been scrapped. Any reasons why?
Thank you for participating in the Windows Advisor Beta program and using

increasing font size by
Joel[_6_]
Last week I purchased my 1st laptop and thus entered the world of Vista
after running Win XP home since it 1st came out. I'm a senior at 62, and
my eyesight isn't the best anymore. I tried 1024x600 for larger font
size but didn't like how graphics and Icons looked, so I went back to
the default of 1288x600.
My problem is the the font size including emails is just too small, so
I'm forced to...

Windows Vista Backup is failing by
Theyroutogetme
Because my Vista Business has become unreliable due to other family
members installing all kinds of stuff, I want to go back to the new
install image I took only 3 months ago using Vista complete pc backup &
restore on two DVDs.
I boot the machine using the the Vista ROM disk and (eventually) the
repair menu appears. I then put in the backup disk, hit find backup and
a search progress bar...

failed with the error
A shadow copy could not be created. Check the system event log for more
information. (0x81000019)

Checking in system event log, I see shadow copy starts and then stops, but
no error information.
I have tried reboot, and checking...

Vista Partition Tool - will not shrink partition by
VMR
Hi all
My C: drive is 1Tb in size (931.43Gb), with Used Space of 73.8Gb and
Free Space of 857.65Gb.
I want to shrink the C: partition down to 200Gb, and use this just for
my OS and App files - I'm running Vista Ultimate 64 bit. This would then
leave me with a new partition of c. 750Gb for my data files and
documents etc.

CPU Spikes and Audio Lag by
Sk8punkEmO
I need help
My PC has been having CPU usage spikes every few seconds. This wouldn't
be so bad as it causes a minimal amount of lag onscreen, but it makes
the audio lag when ever it happens. This means listening to music is
ruined and cutscenes in games can get out of sync.
Please help me, thanks. :(

Windows go dark by
wwp
Quite often an open window will suddenly darken or gets very gray for
no apparent reason. If I'm clicking through a bunch of pics in a
folder, after I close the last one everything dims down. Or it could
be during a movie, if the scene changes to a night scene it will
darken even more 'til it's barely visible.
Please help.
Thanks

Small font by
Bill Long
All the Windows fonts are fine except the font that Windows uses to fill
in blank fields in menus and headers in Windows mail. If I enter the
data the font is okay but when Windows enters the data the font is too
small to read. The font in the body of the mail is fine.

I keep an empty folder on my desktop to hold files I have downloaded
until I can work on them or for temporary storage etc. With xp this
folder's toolbar had an "X" icon for deleting any highlighted files.
For some reason I can't find this in Vista.
Please help if you can.

Speed problem with Intel Q6600 (Quad Core) and Ultimate 64-Bit by
AJF
I've been playing around with both the 32 and 64 Bit versions of Vista
Ultimate on my new PC. The system specs are as follows;
CPU: Intel Q6600 (Quad Core 2.4)
MB: Intel DG965WH
RAM: 4Gb (1Gb Transcend PC 800MHz x 4)
Video: PNY 8800GTS
In Vista 32-Bit, System runs well (Good CPU Utilization) but will not see
all 4Gb RAM (3.2+GB Seen), system seems to be using a fair amount of RAM.

Where's Vista's Right-Click- Properties - Version tab? by
Russell
When I right-click on install files, I don't see a 'Version' tab like I used to
see with XP. Where the 'Version' file property tab in Vista?
In Vista Right-Click- Properties tab offers 'General', 'Digital Signatures',
'Security' and 'Details'. The 'Details' tab does not offer the file's version.
Most apps offer version info together with the software creator info in the
'Version' tab that's...
