Major change in performance (for the better) can anyone tell me why? by
Danno[_2_]
I have one of those Windows Sidebar Gadgets that show core usage (2), and
RAM
usage. Recently it changed dramatically for the better.
Previously, both cores operated at 40% plus. They never dropped below the
40% threshold. Now, the cores run very low sometimes they are both at 5%,
_rarely_ spiking to 100% seldom. RAM, however, has changed inversely.
Previously, it never dropped below 50%,...

Vista VERY slow for 10 minutes after startup. by
dpwilli
My wife recently purchased an Acer Aspire 5100 Notebook for her work which
came preinstalled with Vista Home Premium. At first everything seemed fine
with it, then after a few weeks she started noticing that after startup,
vista was virtually unresponsive for about 10-15 minutes. After that time
everything ran fine. There has been only one application installed on the
computer, but is...

USB Flash Drive Memory by
Diane K[_2_]
When I insert my new 2GB Crucial USB flash drive in the slot, I choose
ReadyBoost. But a dialog box appears saying "This device does not have the
required performance characteristics for use in speeding up your system."
Does anyone know why I'm getting that message? What am I missing?
Thanks so much.

Event Viewer - How To Read ? by
Andre U
I am having issues with Vista taking 2+ minutes to boot up to logon.
Looking in the Diagnostics-Performance section in the Event Viewer, I have
many errors with Task Categories of System Performance Monitoring, Boot Perf
Monitoring and Shutdown Perf Monitoring.
Viewing the details tells me nothing about what is wrong or where to start
looking. I was hoping to see a service or program causing...

Vista and Acer Aspire 5515 by
JEPowell
Hi Everyone,
I recently got an Acer Aspire 5515 for school and it has vista. My question
however is about backing it up. When I first got the system it instucted me
to create back-up cd's so I did. The is also a D: drive that has nothing on
it; it's factory name was data. Dose this mean it's the back-up data drive
(I have an app that loads that will write a backup file to D:) and I should...

audiodg.exe eating memory? by
s.dane
Hi, hope somebody can shed a light. Have Vista Home Premium that when started
uses 50% of physical memory, and constantly increases... to 80% at the moment
(after 3 hours).
I can see that the main contributor is audiodg.exe currently at 960.000 KB
(according to Resource Monitor), (was using 810.000 KB an hour ago)... CPU is
within normal levels.
I am not playing any audio files or have...

ultimate backup error: file already exists by
Chris Cowles
I'm trying to back up from Vista Ultimate to a share on a networked
Linksys NSLU2 I named NAS1. The share is 'backup'. Backup can browse
to the folder at which point I get a userid/pw prompt. After
completing login to NAS1, Vista backup consistently fails because
"Cannot create a file when that file already exists. (0x80070087)".
When I look in the share directory, there's a new subdirectory...

I've recently installed Windows Vista: Ultimate, and have ran into 2 problems
that i've noticed. One problem is that my taskbar freezes after
double-clicking the speaker icon in the taskbar. I can hoover over the
speaker with my mouse, and it would be ok, but once i double-click it, then
the entire taskbar freezes, and only the Start button is accessible, as well
as my entire desktop, but...

I have searched all over the internet for advice on this problem but

my Dell, Vista run laptop. In fact, it won't even sleep after the 25
minutes it's set to fall asleep after. Even when I try to preview the
screensavers, they will show for a second and then shut off. I have
tried ending the ehtray.exe, but it does...
