BSOD - Driver IRQL not less or equal by
The Dr.
From what I've managed to research so far, it would appear that there are an
infinite number of reasons why one's computer would crash for this error
message.
I have never been able to find an answer that is unique to my specific crash
reference. If anyone can answer or direct me to solution in any way I would
be most grateful. My computer crashes with this same blue screen and error...

System Restore stopped daily updates by
Lee Lord[_3_]
I've noticed recently that system restore has stopped creating the daily
restore points. Although, when I install software one is created. I
checked "services" and shadow copy is enabled as well as Task Scheduler.
Are there any other services that should be enabled for the system
checkpoints to be created? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

If you move IE Temp favicons and history stop working by
Juraj
Hullo Everyone,
I tried to find an answer to this on the forums. I found a lot on IE
temp files etc. but nothing to solve the following riddle:
I had a habit in XP to keep IE temp on a small "temp" partition to
avoid fragmenting the system partition so much and to be able to defrag
quickly and often. I kept all "rubbish" on that small "temp" partition.
In Vista, I also tried to move the IE...

acpi.sys cpu utilization by
satch
I have a 3GHz dual core with 8GB of ram on Vista 64 bit and the "system"
process, that normally should only be a couple of percent, is always around
47%, regardless of what I do to the system (one of the cores is always at
95-100%). Using process explorer it's showing that it is the acpi.sys
process and I'm unable to do anything to that thread. The actual start
address within process...

Unresonsive programs by
Kent Harker
I have a Lenovo 3000 N100 laptop running Vista Business with 2 GB of memory.
Most of the time when I start almost any program I get a not responding
message. If I wait 10 to 30 seconds the program usually responds but most
programs don't run very fast.
This computer is about 1 year old and it has worked this way since it was
new.
Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this problem?

Why is Windows Vista such a P.O.S. by
Brian Kitt
I have been a developer since early 80's. I've been disappointed, and
re-disappointed year after year at the lower and lower quality of crap that
Microsoft pushes on us. But Vista absolutely takes the cake. I've been
running it for a year, and still get frustrated every single day about what a
total worthless pile of crap this is. Why can't Microsoft stop spening money
trying to convince...

Complete PC Backup by
Jim Marcum
I have tried unsuccessfully to make a complete backup. I have two new
machines from MPC, my own running Vista Ultimate and another Vista Business.
I installed the standard software, Office 2007, etc. Then I tried to make a
backup image (Complete) but when it got to the end, it said "The Backup
Failed." "The parameter is incorrect 0X80070057." The first backup was to a
second internal HD and...

Disappointment with Vista alternative media program? by
Dan \(the newbie\)
Hi,
I'm posting this question to relevant newsgroups, I hope you don't mind.
I subscribed to the alternative media program and I do not yet what to make
of the six DVD set that I received from Microsoft. I had hoped to order the
64-bit media but something got screwed up and they sent me 32-bit media and
the DVDs were dated 2007. Was this a clearance sale? SP1 was on a separate
DVD. A more...

I am getting lots of critical errors in the event viewer. Event ID = 100,
200, 400, 307, 402.... (Below are the details for a couple of them). I have
seen several posts on the web for this issue but no solutions. It seems to
be an issue that affects a lot of vista installs on all different pc /
laptops. I'm running an IBM (lenovo) T61 laptop. I don't know if these
issues are related...

Constant FREEZES and no infections by
I.C. Greenfields
No infections of any kind can be found on this PC, yet MSMail, MozillaFF and
IE7 lock up constantly. How can this be fixed short of a reformat and
reinstall of the OS? Vista has been as unstable as W98 for us. Is there any
way to get it as stable as XP? Does anyone know what causes these constant
W98 type freezes so many of us are enduring with Vista?
