windows shuts down unexpectedly by
rich
Windows shuts down unexpectedly. Is there a way to pinpoint the cause based
on the logs and errors that Vista produces? I have read at least a half
dozen reasons suggested for this type of occurrence in general and wonder if
there is information being captured by the system that can help pinpoint the
cause for my specific case.

Slow start after hiybrid sleep and power down by
Pieter de Vries
My Vista-SP1 PC starts rather slowly after it has been put into hybrid sleep
and the mains power has been down. This is strange as it starts quickly after
pure hibernate, what should be the same.
Start times are as follows:
Hybrid-Sleep (mains power on stays on): 15 sec
Hybrid-Sleep (mains power has been off): 120 sec
Hibernate: 35 sec
Remarkable at the start after hybrid sleep (+power down)...

Windows features on/off error by
Tom[_12_]
Hello,
When I try to use the "Turn windows features on or off" function in Windows
Vista Home Premium, I get this message: "An error has occurred. Not all
of the features were successfully changed". I have tried several times on
different features, enabling or disabling the feature, always the same
error message and nothing is changed. When I bought this computer two months

Vista problems by
Leah
I bought my computer 12/19/07 and unfortunately it only had the option of
coming with Vista. 2 months after purchasing my new PC, the desktop
completely disappeared, leaving me with only an explorer window to navigate
my computer. Since then, all of my USB drives have disappeared to where I
can't use my printer, keyboard, mouse, card reader, etc.
I spoke with the manufacturer who said they...

ClancD
I'm running Vista Home Basic. The main toolbar at the bottom of the screen
keeps locking up, I try to click on something, it won't work, then I get a
message that Windows Explorer is Not Responding. I then click to restart it,
it will work for a few seconds, then the whole process repeats. I have run a
virus scan, done a disk cleanup and defraged it, to help. Is there anything I

Can't see defrag scheduler by
Levi2003
I have tried to open the defrag screen to see when it is set to defrag.
According to one of the posts, it does it automaticly. When I click on it,
the cursor just sits there and spins. I even have tried to open it from the
start menu, using the search option, and now when I hit the start button, I
can't access anything else in there also. Why is this so hard?

dll_unloaded errors by
Nick
Hi..
I have been getting a few *.dll_unloaded errors recently which result in the
explorer shell crashing and needing to be restarted. Its not a huge problem
as it only happens perhaps once or twice a day (sometimes not at all) but
it's a little inconvenient as I use a Dreamscene desktop video which I need
to reset it after each crash.
I have only noticed the error with the following dll...
