Set CPU ti 100% by jokicevic
Hi. I'm running Vista Ultimate x64 on Dell's intel i7. Everything works fine except CPU usage. When rendering in 3D Studio Max and Vray the CPU goes to 100%, and that is ok. When I try to do the same thing with default render engine the CPU goes jut up to 30%. Is there any way to tell vista goes 100% for specific application?

Slow Boot Problem by vistanovice
I know its an age old problem, but this is baffling me.My computers clean, defragged and running fine. But booting takes forever. In safe Mode it starts fine, the windows bar only goes across 3 times before log on page. But normally the bar goes across 25 times before continuing. In the boot log the prefetchbootinit seems to be taking about 40 secs, and causing the problem. I only have 5 startup...

A trojan that is redirecting to Google and shopping sites by Frank Crap
I don't know if this is the right place to mention this, but I have been going nuts because of a virus that "redirects" my web wandering away from the Microsoft software update website to Google Search or some other url to take me shopping and it wouldn't allow me to go to anti virus or security pages. I know it sounds unreal, but these bugs are designed now to evolve and to practically think for...

Tank Manager doesn't work by I.C. Greenfields
TaskManager refuses to "kill" or close MozillaFF (and other locked up programs). How can it get TM to work and kill this Browser and other locked up programs? Is there a free program out there to close programs TM cannot?

Need Help - Disk Space Cleanup Manager Has Stopped Working by Razor7Tech
Hello-- We have a client with a brand new laptop running Vista Business 32-bit OS, and when he tries to launch the Disk Space Cleanup manager, he gets the error that it has stopped working and an option to run a debug which he says does no good. I see workarounds online, but I am looking for a solution. Thank you,

Need Help - Disk Space Cleanup Manager Has Stopped Working by Razor7Tech
Hello-- We have a client with a brand new laptop, with Vista Business 32-bit OS and when he tries to run the Disk Cleanup Manager, he gets the message, Disk Space Cleanup Manager has stopped working, and an option to run a debug--which he says does no good. I've searched online and the only near helpful info was a workaround--but we are looking for a repair.

Readyboost Help by D4v15
I get the option to "Speed up my system using Readyboost" when i put a (4g) SD card into my computer, but then when i click it, there is no readyboost tab. It is my understanding that I have to enable this in the systems.sfc, buuuut.... I have tried cmd prompting sfc/scannow, and it tells me "You must be an administrator running a console session in order to use the sfc utility."

Task Manager problems by I.C. Greenfields
How do I get Task manager to work? It doesn't shut down frozen (non responding) programs including WindowsMail, IE7 or MozillaFF... all of which "stop responding" constantly. We're all getting sick and tired of having to reboot to get anything done online. I can't find any infections on this PC which has WDefender, Avast, Spybot, Adaware, A-Squared and ZoneAlarm. We ran all these...

Problems when I tried to do a system recovery with Vista by Fred Seaman
I have an Acer 9410 laptop with Windows Vista and I had taken it to computer techs to fix some mouse pad problems as well as some startup freezing problems. They said it passed their PC check so didn't appear as anything was wrong. They said I could try to do system recovery to restore it back to its factory settings. Well, when I initially tried it, it didn't work so then, not thinking this...

Bizarre performance issue by justrick
I've got a three-week-old HP system with a quad-core processor, 6GB of RAM, etc. In other words, it's loaded. (OS: Vista x64) A couple days after I got the machine, it suddenly started running slow as molasses. Never did figure out why, but after a couple hours it was back to normal. About a week later, same thing: a few hours of incredibly sluggish performance, then back to normal.

Microsoft Windows Dynamic Cache Service on 32-Bit? by Steve Mavronis
I just got a Microsoft weekly newsletter in my email today. One of the new system tools it describes is the Microsoft Windows Dynamic Cache Service. Here is the Microsoft page about it: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=E24ADE0A-5EFE-43C8-B9C3-5D0ECB2F39AF&displaylang=en It talks a lot about 64-bit operating system cache. I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate edition...

Frequent crashes by unknownalias
My windows vista (home premium 32bit) frequently crashes. I have very little of an idea why this is happening. It may have been after i downloaded a program, it would have been a legitimate program, as i try and keep my laptop safe. It crashes instantly seemingly randomly (though i have noticed that the internet, whichever browser may be affecting it). It can run for long periods without...

Boot error in Vista X64 random... by Munchmouth
I have had 2 random boot errors where it gives me a screen telling me that I had a software or hardware change that is causing a problem. I then have to reboot, it then will start up fine... I haven't installed anything. Could it be antivirus software? I have Comcast and I get free McAfee software with my account. It says it's compatible... Anyone else had this problem? --

Windows Vista won't start after update by MP
I updated my Windows Vista Home Premium Edition last week and since then, Windows just won't start. The computer will start (I see the Dell logo and all) and after the Windows Vista page will appear but after nothing. I tried to fix this with the recovery disk I got when I purchased my laptop but it says everything is fine, but Windows still won't start. Does anyone know how to fix this...
