Foreground/Background tasks by
sinnfinn
This is a simple question -- my Windows Media is sputtering, especially when
I am surfing to other pages.
I assume that this is a problem I could fix by adjusting the allocation to
make sure that WM always has enough resources, but do not know how to do
this. Can anyone help?
Thanks

froze up, so I rebooted. Same thing happened again, I rebooted, and it
happened yet again. This time, I got two options: Start this computer
Normally, or Enter Vista Startup Repair (Recommended). I went into the
startup Repair and did a system restore. Now, when I boot up the same
thing happens again, I go to the System...

New partition in Vista home basic? by
Nancyb1962
Hello,
I am trying to find out if this would help or harm, and, if it would
help, how to do it. I am wondering if it is possible that I could create
a new partition on my Vista home basic just for storage for pictures and
document files mainly. If I could do this, would it help the speed of
the computer? If so, how would I go about doing this? And, once stored
in the new partition, would I be...

Unexpected shutdown by

I was hoping someone could analyze my BSOD error and give me an idea of what
might be causing it. I was recently infected with virus/trojan and I was
actually in the middle of running a program (Combofix) to send to someone to
analyze when I crashed. Don't know if it is related though to BSOD error.

can't hide “File | Edit | Tools | Help” toolbar in Windows Explore by
akita
Vista RTM version 6.0 build 6000:
Since a couple of days when I open Windows Explorer I see that the
traditional “File | Edit | Tools | Help” toolbar has reappeared. No matter
what I do, I cannot get rid of it!
I’m aware that pressing the Alt tab toggles that toolbar. But toggling it
has no longer any effect on it.
Equally, checking/unchecking “always show menus” in Folder Options...

Microsoft Windows Vista includes a two-way firewall. TO THE TOP by
I.C. Greenfields
Some of us want to choose what "gets out" and what doesn't. And this info
doesn't work since there is nowhere to make such a change in the Windows
Firewall window that comes up. Configure it - HOW? Can someone explain how
it's configured to actually work without being a programmer writing strange
unknown confusing rules for everything that wants to connect to the net? If
not, can someone...
