Connection problem with Microsoft products by
XSB
Hi! I've installed an application called "WasyTune 6" by gigabyte, which
overclocks my CPU dynamically. When i enabled this setting, i heard a
strange noice from the speakers, and the PC froze. I restarted the PC,
and as soon as the vista login animation showed up, the noice
appeared, and the PC froze. I reset the BIOS settings to factory
defaults, and then, the PC ran correctly, apart of the...

Vista takes an age to shutdown-Event Viewer help please? by
Mysticpuma
Not sure what changed, but now it can take about 4-minutes to shut down
vista.
In the event log is shows that there is an issue, but linking to
Microsoft says it doesn't know what the problem is.
I have taken a screengrab showing the logs, but can anyone point me in
the direction to go from here, to actually track the program that is
causing the hang in shutdown.

Cursor stability by
M.Hawkes
two problems which may be related.
1. Cursor will shoot to the edge/top/bottom of monitor and it takes several
movements of the mouse to get it to behave normally.
2. When reading text the page scrolls to the bottom and the program has to
be closed and restarted for normal behaviour.
Can anyone give me step by step instructions as to how this problem can be
cured?

Vista and Adobe Acrobat Pro version 8 by
JerryF
Of all the programs I use in Vista, Adobe Acrobat Pro is
the one that performs the worst. Frequently while
editing a file the application window goes into the
"twilight zone" with the entire appliction window
becoming fuzzy and unresponsive sometimes for as long as
30 seconds. It does not completely hang, and eventually
responds. This happens on at least 3 different machines.
All have Quad...

Windows Vista and Windows 7 dual boot - visible partitions? by
Victek
You may remember the issue when dual booting Vista and XP where all of the
restore points would get deleted because of System Restore incompatibilities
between the OSs. Currently I'm dual booting Vista and Windows 7. I use
System Commander and to be safe I have hidden the partition of the
non-active OS (in other words Vista cannot see the Win7 partition and Vice
Versa). I wonder though if...

Shutdown Issue by
Mike Moran
I have two fairly new (14 months and 10 months) Dell Inspiron 530 desktops.
Both run Vista Home Premium 32-bit. Not networked. The only hardware
differences between the two is in the processor and ram - one is a core 2
duo with 2 GB ram; the other is a core 2 quad with 4 GB ram. The quad,
right from the start, has always been quick to shut down - about 12 seconds
after the Shutting Down...

USER ACCOUNT CONTROL by
Frank McKee
Hi,
I am experiencing problems with the User Account Control function. I am
running Vista Home Premium on a Dell 1525 Notebook.
When I open Download Accelerator Plus, the UAC window opens and I click
continue. DAP opens but when I right click to download a file, nothing
happens. When I shut off UAC everything works fine.
I am convinced that it is not the DAP program as I am running the same

I have a problemwith Vista (of course) by
slime340
I am new here but I have a problem with Vista Ultimate 32bit, I try to
create a complete back image but the scan for drives never ceases. I
allowed it to run overnight and it just kept scanning. I was able to
creat one before, but since having to rebuild the OS, it won't create
the image. Advise me if you can, thank you in advance.

x86 verses x64 by
Carl G
Hi guys
Looking for some answers .
I have Vista Ultimate , I have x64 installed at the present time . I noticed
under C: it lists two program files folders ,
one just plain Program Files (which I presume is the x64 bit folder)
one Program Files x86 (which is what it says I presume)
The x86 folder is 1.55 gig and the other Program Files Folder (Which I asume
is x64) is only 900 MGB .
So does...

How do I know if vista is Utilizing all available Ram? by
joshua1023
I just finished installing and setting up Vista x64 Ultimate. I have 4
Gigs of Ram that I want to utilize. It is installed and recognized by
the computer. So my question is this:
How do I know for sure that my new OS is using all the available RAM?
The reason I ask is that when I was running 32bit Vista, my ram meters
said I was using approx 33% of my ram. Now that I have 64bit, my ram
meters...

No Sound Problem in Windows Vista by

Recently I've been having this problem with my sound and I'm not sure
what caused it or how to fix it. After every restart my sound does
not work. Everything appears to be fine on my machine, the computer
detects my speakers, it's not on mute, the volume is turned up, and
when I play any audio it even shows the sound levels on the sound bar
but nothing is coming out of my speakers. If I...
