CPU temperature gadget by Taic
Hi everyone. Do you know any good gadget that shows you the usage and the temperature of each core of your CPU? Here is a nice program that shows everything: http://img164.imageshack.us/img164/4719/speedfanmm8.png] But the program is too big, it takes so much space on the screen, so a small gadget would be handy. Here is a picture that i drew of what i mean; this picture shows everything that I...

Disk Management - Shrink volume by Paul[_26_]
I have a laptop with a 90GB hard disk. There is 60GB free and I'm trying to use the Shrink volume option in Disk Management to make the main partition smaller. After I want to create an additional partition so I can dual boot. The problem lies with Shrink Volume. Even though I have 60GB free it's only offering me the chance to shrink by 14GB.I've turned off system restore and hibernate. I've...

Please help me, I am trying to install a game that I have recently bought. I used to have the game a few years ago, but lost the disc, so I have bought it again. As soon as I click "Install", the message pops up, "setup.exe has stopped working", then it says. " A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify if a solution is available." Has...

Switch User by Pat Garard[_2_]
G'Day All, I have been using Vista HP for about 4 months. When first installed, there was an option 'Switch User' on the 'Shutdown/Log Off/Restart.... etc.' Menu. This option has now disappeared. How may I restore it?

MST, SQLITE files in Temp folder by Scoot
Remembering what I do now and then in XP, I went to Vista's Windows TEMP folder to clear it out and saw a lot of files ending in extension MST (59 files, 14+ MB) and many times that number of files (over 400) whose names began with SQLITE. What are these?

BSOD's by tommy2k8[_2_]
As I have posted before, since last summer, my client has been getting random BSOD's, mostly pointing to memory corruption. After eliminating everything else (memory, power supply, disk, swapping memory between slots), a new motherboard (the oher was a ASRock ConRoe 1333-D667). The morning after the new motherboard was fitted I got a BSOD IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, and yesterday...

System restore by t-4-2[_99_]
I have a question. If I were to do a system restore choosing a date, say 16th when a Windows update was installed, why did I have to re-install that update afterwards ?? I always thought if I did system restore choosing 15th, THEN I would have to re-install that update. Furthermore, if that update was one of those " cannot be uninstalled ", why did it reappear after the system restore ? Thank...

64 on laptop by Mark G.
I am going to buy a new laptop and for the most part, especially the ones I am interested in, my only option for an OS is MS Vista Home Premium 64bit. Now my laptop purchase isn't meant to replace my desktop machines at all, but I am purchasing it because I am going back to school and because from time to time, it would be nice to do some things like messing with my music library and...

driver updates ? by t-4-2[_99_]
Dell Inspiron 1420 laptop, Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP1, WLM 14v. I have never done this since day one. I've read about NOT to download driver updates from Windows Update Center. So, where do I go to get drivers updated ? My machine is by Dell, I suppose I should go to Dell website ? How do I ask for updates when I get there ? I had tried, got no where. Thank you. t-4-2

Copy and Move Paralysis by John Hanley
I had read in many places that Vista file transfers (copy, move) would be faster if the feature called “Remote Differential Compression” (RDC) were turned off. So I did a quickie test today, consisting of copying a 1.91 GB folder from my main hard drive to a folder on an external USB drive. Results: With RDC turned on: 3:23 - three minutes and 23 seconds (with a stopwatch).

RAM and 32-bit vs 64-bit? by bdr122
As widely discussed elsewhere, Vista 32-bit will not recognize more than approximately 3 MB of installed RAM (caveat #1 - I am aware that there are some work-arounds for this; caveat #2 - after installing Vista SP-1, windows will correctly report the amount of RAM you have installed, but will still not be able to use more than about 3 MB). I have also read that although you can install much...
