Please help.... can't delete files by
news.microsoft.com[_9_]
I posted this on several Vista groups in desperation. I can't get control
of my own computer although I'm the only user. I can't understand the
complicated directions given to OWN my own PC so I can delete unwanted files
downloaded to it in error from a backup external drive.
I'm the admin and only user on my Vista comp and can't delete old files I no
longer want. How do I delete these...

There are a lot stuff here all user need to use from time to time.
But only administrator can see all icons placed here.
This folder has set following permissions for Everyone: access, list, read,
execute.
To solve my problem I tried to let inherit these permissions by all

New HP PC/Vista, 3 user accounts, 1 very slow. by
Karl
For some reason 2 of my 3 user accounts work fine. The account I set for
myself as administrator is very slow when surfing the web compared to the
other accounts. I do not sign on as the administrator when I use my account.
All the settings I know how to find are basicaly the same. I logoff all other
accounts. Is there a simple fix out there ? Thanks for any advice. Karl

haplyss
I have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop, 3G Ram, Vista Home Premium, AMD
Turion 64x2. I would like to know, if any loss of info or damage to
hardware and/or software could happen by never doing a shutdown, just
logging off and pulling the plug?
Very Curious!

Windows Explorer takes up full CPU at times by
Moonraker0
When I have a certain location open, Windows Explorer takes up nearly all
of my CPU usage. My Sidebar Gadget (Multi Meter) is showing full usage
to ~95 for both cores. I open up the Task Manager, and the
"explorer.exe" process is using up my whole CPU. If I close the
offending location, it drops down to normal (~5%). One of these places
is my removable HD, E:. The green loading bar...

Can I use omega drivers for xp in vista? by
Nick T.
I don't really know where to post this, but my reason for asking is because
frankly, my graphics card stinks. It's an integrated ATI IGP 320M, and
vista's drivers for it aren't horrible, they're just not what I'm looking
for. So, can I use the omega drivers for this card (which work in xp, i've
tested them) on Vista 32bit? That'd be fantastic!

Generate a system health report error by
Louis C-W
Hello,
after having installed Windows Vista Service Pack 1 on Home Premium and
adding another gigabyte of RAM, I decided to Generate a health report.
After confirming by clicking continue the box opens, but it's black. Another
five seconds later a download box (that of Internet Explorer) appears
prompting me to open, save or cancel the download for a file named: Wait
(1)The download box...

I am having random BSOD in what seems to only be windows environment, no
crashes whilst gaming. Most commonly BSOD about 1-2 minutes after
system startup. May happen once or twice more after that, sometimes it
only does the one BSOD at startup and then its fine.

vista won't retain folder location by
Wonderman[_2_]
Running Vista 32 and although " remember each folders view setting " is
checked in Folder Options / view each folder seems to revert to the default
view - re-arranging icons and view size and locaiton. I've searched google
and tried a lot of fixes unsuccessfully. IIRC XP had the same issue. Any
thoughts ?

I wish to utilize the ready boost function. When I plug in an 2 g sd

Vista page loading slowed to a crawl...tried everything! by
i.sedition
Hello.
I have been happily using Vista for a year and half no with no problems
whatsoever. Yesterday for no reason that I can deduct my loading time
slowed to over two minutes for text pages and for sites like HULU the
videos tale over 5 minutes to download before they play and then they
are buffered every 30 seconds so it is basically useless now.
I have been researching this and applying fixes...

sleep mode with no page file hangs X64 ultimate by
dma550
Hey guys
First needy post here, I have a Dell M6400 Covet quad core with 8gb ram
(notebook !)
I am using vista ult on it though I used server 08 as my last notebook
os. I am using an intel x-25m ssd for my boot and intensive program
drive, and I find that if I disable my page file on drive 0, sleep fails
- it never makes it to sleep, and the pulsating power button, it gets
hung up. If...

CPU at 100 usage after bad sectors by
ghostp780
I hope someone can help me out on this. I'm not a novice, but I'm not
far from being one either. The problem started with an unusably slow
operating system. I ran chkdsk on both of my drives, and this seemed to
fix the problem, since I saw several bad sector events in the event
viewer. But, the CPU is now constantly being taken up by a svchost.exe
process and windows search index process. ...

Away Mode by
Foxycat
I have Vista Home Premium SP1, which came pre-installed on my PC.
I recently bought a UPS (APC ES700) and have been trying to set up its
accompanying software, PowerChute Personal Edition. I downloaded the correct
Vista version. The documentation states that PowerChute requires Hibernation
enabled, so I have been trying to get Hibernation to work on my PC, without
much success.
APC Support...

Lost toolbar by

I needed to see if someone could help me figure out where my toolbar went to.
:) When I am on the internet the upper and lower toolbars are gone. If you
put your mouse at the top, the toolbar will appear and when you move the
mouse away it disappears again. Yesterday, I was typing an email and i
remember accidently hitting the spacebar along with other letters, and that
is when the problem...
