Task scheduler and sleep mode - Sleeps too soon by
Adam
If I create a scheduled task in Vista, set to wake the computer from sleep
mode, Vista wakes correctly, but goes back into sleep mode before the task
is finished.
I've seen a couple of posts here mentioning similar problems, and I'm
wondering if Microsoft are aware of the problem. I have the same problem on
two different PCs both running Ultimate (one upgraded from XP Pro, one with
Vista...

Recently receiving error messages: Error loading
C:\Windows\system32\NvMcTray.dll & NvCpl.dll. I write to inquire what these
do and if they have anything to do with my recent slowdown in connecting to

Windows Vista Business 32bit by
TMM
Hello everyone ,
I have been using Vista for a couple of months and have done a lot of
installations and uninstallations so far. My problem is that the PC
boots up very slowly and I began to occasionally receive Blue Screen
Errors. I think I have most up to date drivers for my hardware and
applied most of the tutorials in the Speed Up the Performance of Vista
Tutorial on my PC. However I have a...

Error-Checking (chkdsk) and multiple drives by
goorambatman
You can't schedule an error check with chkdsk with multiple drives.
If you have multiple NTFS hard drives on a system that you want to check for
errors you have to schedule a check for one, restart the PC, allow the drive
to be checked then schedule a check for the next one restart the PC again etc.
You shouldn’t have to restart your computer for every drive you want to
check, you should...

Boblink
Hi, have clicked "Remember My ID and Password" nut my system appears to be
very arbitrary in remembering the User ID and / or the Password.
I thought I had checked all the correct boxes but it very arbitrary in what
it remembers and what it doesn't remember.
Any help would be appreciated.

The other day I noticed the case no longer "powers down" when my Vista

Random Sleep Mode by
Briana Nicole
For some reason, my laptop randomly goes into sleep mode. I have no clue
why it does this; sometimes it'll do it once, and that'll be it, and
other times, it'll go into sleep mode back to back, multiple times. I've
had this problem since about a week after I received my laptop (Dell
Studio 1735).
I preformed a msconfig, as recommended by the Dell person - that didn't
help.
I re-installed Vista...

Web pages won't load on random occassions by
David Saunders
Hi,
I am running Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit with Internet Explorer 7.
Ever since I upgraded my PC and installed Vista (about 1 year ago) I have had
a problem with loading web pages. Every time I access the web I find that web
pages won't load on a random basis. The issue appears to relate to all web
sites (e.g. Google, Hotmail, etc.).
I have provided a scenario below as an example of...

check disk not working by
michael56555
Check disk will not run at startup. Runs in read only mode without a
problem. Have tried sfc /scannow. Have replaced autochk file. Have tried
from elevated prompt, drive c: properties, as well as in safe mode. Tried
Vista x64.com tutorial methods. Have searched the web with no luck.
Any suggestions?

System restore not working by
jannerhank[_2_]
Hi,
I am using Vista Home Premium 64, and up to now everthing has been
reasonable OK.
However every month ATI issues new drivers so this month I downloaded
them but when I tried December's to install them it said that they were
not 64 bit (drivers name is 8-12_vista64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_72275), they
also have Vista 32-bit which are called almost the same
(8-12_vista32_dd_ccc_wdm_72275).

Windows Complete PC Backup and Restore by

The subject is available on my Vista Ultimate machines. Is it the same as
Acronis True Image?
My wife's computer has a smaller, older PATA hard drive and a very small (20
GB), old PATA drive that she uses for data. If I buy a new, large capacity
SATA hard drive (the mobo and pws support SATA), can I use the subject Vista
feature to image the PATA drive to the SATA drive, boot from the SATA...

system. I didn't get far doing that when I...
