Error Codes on Updates by
Susan Sylvester
Hello,
I have been trying to install three important updates to my Vista
system and they are failing with error codes 8E5E0147 and 8E5E03FB. To
get help with this error Windows suggest going on line. This I have done
and then everything stops. Microsoft doesn't seem to recognise these
codes and I can't find anything that mentions what they mean, except
adverts for me to pay companies to "correct...

When I restarted my computer, the desktop loads extremely slow like 3-4
minutes. I could not do anything but wait. My desktop was not slow
before, and it booted up for like 30 secs or may be less. I don't
really shut my PC down all the time, so I don't know when this started.
Quick story of my OCing(*desktop was already slow*)
I OCed my computer to 3.Ghz. I did some stress test also...

How to change the colour intensity under the mouse pointer by
Norway's Agent6
I'm having trouble seeing the blue colour that appears when I rightclick, for
instance, on the taskbar and move my pointer along the choises that appears.
I'm using Vista Aero and have tried several settings to get this blue colour
to be more intence but with no luck.
Can enyone tell me how I can change it? I just want to change the intensity
not the appearance of other things. Is it possible?

vm-jerry
Vista SP1 / 64 bit - is constantly showing 1 pending update. On shutdown it
says installing update 1 of 1. This never goes away - each subsequent
shutdown says the say thing.
Where can I look to see what update is stuck and how to clear it.
Thanks

Hibernate and Restart problem by
Ristar
Whenever I try to hibernate, the laptop would take a while... which it's
fine, 'cos it isn't exactly top of the line, since its for college use only.
However, instead of hibernating (eventually), it restarts.
What's the problem and is there a solution to this?
In addition, whenever there's an orphan/zombie process running, the computer

System restore trashes drive. by
Lester Stiefel
Microsoft blew it on the allocation of disk space for
system restore. The restore function seems to throw the data
all over the drive, causing the defragger to be unable to
adequately defrag the system files.

Help restoring backup to new partition by
billtvt
Vista crashed on me the other day, and I used the recovery option to try
to fix the errors. Instead, a new partition was created somehow. My C
drive is now the smaller drive and E has been designated for program
installations.
I had made a backup just a week ago, but when I try to restore/install
that backup I get a message that the file location is not valid. I
presume that because it was all...

ran in diagnostic mode which has fewer servies running than the safe

Heavy drive activity followed by application not responding. by
md
Wondering if anyone can offer some troubleshooting tips.
Periodically, a Windows Home Premium PC will engage in heavy drive
activity, usually accessing the page file, thumbcache, searchindexer
or a windows media 360 file ( forget the file name). When this drive
activity occurs and an application is closed (usually IE, Windows
Explorer), the application will hang briefly and often times...
