Dell says the printer driver for the 1500 is on Windows Vista, but Vista says "unknown devise". I can not get Vista to recognize my printer. How do I get the printer driver?

I have down loaded the driver for my Canon D1250U2 scanner which now resides in my Downloads folder. When I try and install the associated software I am informed that the scanner driver(Twain driver) is not installed. Where can I get the drivers and application software in order to use my Mustek scanner? It is model MFS---1200sp. I've tried Mustek website and they don't have the software for this scanner.
