Windows Vista Administrator lost password by
tarathezebra
I'm quite savy at computers but this is tricky. My mom has me set on
parental controls for Windows Vista. She gave me her password and I
turned them out, logged off and then logged back on to my account. Then,
when I turned off the computer and she turned it back on the next day,
her password didn't work. She's called people and apparently, I changed
the password without knowing I did.
Here's...

Password expired - change pw - Access is denied by
JasonD
I booted up my Vista Ultimate this AM to a "Your password has expired and

It offers me 3 fields, 1st one is filled in (my old pw presumably), 2nd says
"new pw", 3rd says "confirm pw".
I fill in 2, and 3, and click - which results in a brief flash of
"Changing password..." then "Access is denied."
I've tried clearing 1 and putting in my pw instead of...

Running Vista Business w SP1
Have a simple setup, with one user - an User Account Control is turned OFF.
Since I use a Hard Drive Password, I prefer not to use a Windows login
password.
During normal bootup, my User login occurs automatically, as desired.
However, if Vista goes into Sleep mode, when I activate it there is no
automatic login. It shows the screen with my User Name and below...

Accounts for Multiboot configuration by
Alois Steindl
Hello,
on my PC I would like to have both Windows XP and Windows 7 installed.
Is there any possibility to share the accounts between these systems,
such that user A on XP is also recognized as the same user on Win7?
EasyTransfer transferred the settings of these users, but assigned
different user IDs, so that files and directories owned by user A on
WinXP belong to an numeric account on...

Please please can someone help me with this??
The problem started when I decided to do a reboot after installing some programs.
Since then whenever I log on it takes ages displaying the "welcome" message, then comes up with the dreaded "preparing your desktop" message. It then loads a "temporary user profile" and says that any changes made while logged on to this profile will be lost...

Keeping it simple. I gave my old XP computer to a friend. He set up a Yahoo
e-mail Live Messenger account on it. It works fine on his end. But when I log
on to my Live Messenger account on my new Vista computer, I log onto his
yahoo account instead of my hotmail account. He went to stored user names and

Login Problem by
Ian Bell
I have a Vista Home premium laptop I use occasionally. I used it a couple of weeks ago and ISTR it
did some updates when I logged out. I turned it on yesterday and it will no longer accept my account
password. In fact it only shows bullets for the first five of the password which is seven long. The
password prompt appears so I am sure I am entering the right password. I do not have caps lock...

I have set up a second administrator account and given it a password. I also
set up a "reset password disk" in a cruzer flash drive. The password reset
has a .psw extension and I can't figure out how to open it up to make sure
it is usable. I have Open Office installed. When I try to open the .psw file
with it however, it shows what I call "computer language" (unreadable)
and not document...
