adminpak.msi for Vista? by
I want to upgrade my WinXP Pro to Vista RC1, but I tested in the lab and it
removes the Admin tools. I have a 2000 AD. The only way I know to get AD
admin tools (AD Users and computers, AD Sites/Services, etc.) is to actually
set up Longhorn Server, the make it a DC, then use the tools installed to
administer the other domain. Is there any other way?

DHCP Snapin by
Has anyone been able to get this one to show the DHCP Scopes. I get the
snapin to install and have registered the DLL, but I can't see the scopes.
When I do a display stats it knows that the scopes are as it tells me how

Thanks

Virtual store doesn't work after moving users folder by
#[BONGO]
Recently I moved users folder and created symlink C:\Users - D:\Users.
Everything works flawlessly, except virtual store. It just behaves like
virtual store was disabled, older applications write directly to Program
Files. Does anyone know solution for this problem?

Keeps asking for administrators password? by
***** charles
Hi all,
My new Dell all of a sudden started asking for my
administrator account password periodically. I am
using Vista Home Premium. I don't know what I
did to trigger this activity since it didn't do it just
after I got it several weeks ago.
Any ideas?

Can't install new programs by
- Vikas
After initially setting up my new ThinkPat T60p at home I took it into the
office and joined it to the domain at my office. After this I accidentally
deleted my original user account so I now log in under the office domain even
when I am not at the office.
This is a problem when trying to install new programs - I get a message
saying "Requested operation requires elevation". Is there...

Security Issues after upgrading to Vista by
...
I have 2 Hard Drives connected to my PC. Everything was working fine with
Windows XP Pro.
Upon upgrading to Vista Ult. I had formatted my first drive. The second
drive I didn't touch since I have transferred all my backup files(docs,
images, mp3, etc). During Windows XP Pro, I had setup permissions that ONLY
myself would have access to the drive. So the only username in the security...

I recently started using my computer's hosts file. I am running Windows
Vista Business. When I am logged in as the administrator, the hosts
file functions perfectly (blocks websites I'm trying to block).
However, when I am logged in as a user, the hosts file is being ignored.
I have already flushed the dns cache. I also added a few url's that I
had never visited before to the hosts file in...

Recoverig from Vista crash by
5Circles[_2_]
I wish I could create a more targeted subject line, but at this point I'm not
exactly sure what to ask. I'm starting data recovery, and looking for ideas
on my strategy going forward - in particular should I do a complete system
restore (my inclination), or will I be able to create a stable system some
other way?
The system is a 2 month old laptop, HP DV6780SE running Vista Home Premium. ...

user friendly ? by

i think the main ingredient into this state of the art os is the user
friendly aspect that computing thrives on , i dont need to be reminded that i
am the admin when i logon to administration access as there is no higher
authority and u ask what is the user friendly aspect the man ingredient into
programing , the basic and hopefully not forgotten number one rule " if then
