I recently started getting an error message stating that "WINDOWS CANNOT
ACCESS THE SPECIFIED DEVICE, PATH, OR FILE. YOU MAY NOT HAVE THE
APPROPRIATE PERMISSIONS TO ACCESS THE ITEM", or more recently APPLICATIION
NOT FOUND, whenever I double click on my cd rom drives. If I right click on

My parents laptop with vista basic locked-up. They could not clear it so
they turned the power off. When they rebooted, it came up with a black
screen. Then they turned the power off and pulled the battery. Now it
comes up with the black screen and is asking for a password (this is
before the vista logo appears). They are over 80 and have no idea what

LEGACY Registry Items Access Denied by
Pufnstuff
When try to delete LEGACY registry items leftover from uninstalled
programs, get "Access Denied" message when try to tick-off to allow
under Permissions, No problems deleting any other registry items - just
the LEGACY ones.
Using Vista Ultimate and I am the Administrator and only user.

Made both users standard in error by

I bought a new computer with Vista installed. I tried to set up 2 accounts,
one for me and one for my son. I set him up as a standard user and I THOUGHT
I set myself up as the administrator. I was able to set the parental
controls and then I restarted the computer. Now for some reason it shows

ODBC32.dll Error. Admin rights not working by

I currently have an error with the ODBC32.dll. When trying to copy in a new
DLL system stated I did not have permission.
In Safemode, commad prompt I ran "sfc /scannow". The scan found errors but
was unable to correct some. When I tried to read the log file.... I did not
have permission.
The user id I am using (the only one on the system) has "admin rights".....

and says that the adminstrator set policies to not allow the
installation or uninstallation of the program i tried many different

Is there a way to disable the paswork bank popup window everytime i try to
log onto sites? I find it really annoying that it asks me everytime when i
don't want to save any passwords for any site.

Hi
when changing the sharing options in Windows Vista Home. I am not sure
quite what happenhere but now I do not have access to my own C: drive
and or permissions to change copy or move anything on it. I have the
user profile on this machine and it is set as the administrator and
other one is Guest, I have also lost access to all administrative
capabilities.
My problem is how do I fix this...

reboot vista and can't find os and hard drive by

when i try to boot, i get a message that it can't find the os.
if i put an xp cd in and reboot, i get a message to press any key to boot
from cd.
if i DON'T press any key, it will go to install vista screen, when i click
install a fresh windows, i realise that both my hard drive is gone.

Vista doesnt seem to allow me to select multiple files or folders by holding
ctrl or shift key. Other versions do. there are even times where the
"Select ALL" choice is not an option. can anyone tell me how to fix???

Administrators' profiles deleted when having Guest status by

Our solution for preventing users from leaving behind profiles on lab
machines has been to add the Domain Users group to the Guests group on those
machines. As long as a user was a member of the Administrators group on the
machine, that user's profile would not be deleted.

Cannot Join 2003 domain by

I have a vista business with sp1 (Just installed)
I get an error that the RPC server is unavailable when i try to Join the pc
to the domain.
Things I have tried:
Reset the Ipstack
Checked dns on the server nslookup ect= no errors
Static Ip on the client with dns pointing to server
